Awful experience due to rude staff. Have visited this restaurant previously and always been allowed to use my Tastecard. This time, however, a waitress shouted at us when we mentioned it, proceeded to slam our bill down and bellow ‘ IT’S 25 NOT 100, YOU CAN PAY’. If you can’t afford to take Tastecards, don’t sign up to the scheme. And if your business is doing so badly that you have to lie about being part of it, then maybe hire some better staff. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, what was meant to be a celebratory meal with a colleague ended up being quite upsetting and offensive. The food was also mediocre, at best. This place gives independents a bad name.

Quite Possibly London’s Finest Italian Restaurant!. I dined here a few days ago with a group of friends and had an absolutely brilliant time. The food was delicious, fresh and unexpectedly good value considering how tasty it was, as was the wine – especially the prosecco which went perfectly with the fish dishes we had. The rustic interior added to the genuine, authentic ambience created by the friendly, attentive staff who made the experience even better. I will certainly be going back to Trattoria da Aldo and soon too!

Authentic Italian dinning experience in the centre of London!. Enjoyed a wonderful evening at Trattoria de Aldo and feel like I have found a real gem nestled away in Soho. The intimate venue is packed full of lovely rustic character and the combination of food and ambience was incredible. The food was so fresh and tasty and paired with fantastic wine. Came out feeling like I had been on holiday! The staff were fantastic, and really enhanced the dining experience, keeping us happily topped up and explaining where necessary to my friend who had never had mussels before. We felt like we were being looked after and will definitely come back again. Thank you! x

Richard. I have known the Da Aldo since the early 1960’s. It was then called Roma (The name is still on the pavement at the entrance door). I used to work nearby and lunch there often. Little has changed in all that time. The seating and table fittings are still the same. The strongly atmospheric Italian decor is much as it was. The menu has not changed greatly. The prices are a bit different – you could then have a three course lunch for 4/6d. But it is still very good value for money. We always go there for out post-theatre. The menu is very varied and I have never been disappointed. It is now our family secret so we are not going to tell anyone about it.
