The ultimate vegan hang out on Oxford Street. The atmosphere oozes hippy vegan vibes. Buffet is dished onto big round silver trays from a wide variety of dreamy vegan dishes in pots and bowls. The room is dark with heavy wooden chairs and candles throughout. The menu has lots of amazing drinks and if you don’t want buffet they have some super yummy dishes on the menu – all healthy too! Dessert is some of the best I’ve had – so fresh, tasty and authentic. Staff are friendly and welcoming, price is super reasonable, vegans will massively enjoy this spot.

Oh yum! Such a peculiar place to eat lunch. Silver platters, wooden bark, cauldronsfilled with vegan goodness and staff that follow the same mantra as the food they serve. If you have a serious aversion to vegan food, this place will convert you. It’s not rabbit food, it’s substantial, good-for-you, tasty food that won’t break the bank or your heart. The buffet style really allows you to sample dishes that you never would order on a regular basis. It opens your appetite and your mind to new things. Including seaweed mushroom stroganoff. Say whaaa?Say yes.

Staff and place is great… But food tastes bland and just disgusting .. Had high hopes for this place .. Perhaps they should get a new menu and chef!? . Just horrible tasting food! The chocolate cake was ok but too moussey and soft

Quite impressed with this place. Ultimate destination for health food freaks. This bright place kind of attracts you to try out their food atleast once. Had detox fruit juices and they were really really good. Definitely visiting this place again for trying out the food.

Go in with an open mind, and be prepared to be amazed by the novel dining experience within.Despite cutting out many food groups, the menu by no means cuts out flavour or choice. It’s actually surprising- and slightly terrifying- how easy and delicious it is to eat wheat, gluten, meat, carb and cooking-free. The rich, organic ingredients in each dish, and the complexity with which they are used, are enough to sate even the ultimate carnivore or wild foodie. After my dish, not only was I extremely full, but also was able to start thinking about alternative ways of eating, rather than relying on the usual meat and starchy carb options. The dcor of the restaurant is cosy and organic; you walk in, past the ‘buffet’ style options, and into the cosy, cocoon-like interior. The staff are gentle and smiley; I think you have to be somewhat zen to work there, or perhaps it’s the nutritious snacks they get to snaffle on their lunch breaks doing them a favour.Anywho, we were promptly served by a nice young lady, who brought our drinks (chai latte with wholesome and deliciously sweet coconut milk) and their winter punch, which reminded me of a mulled wine in terms of its spicy amalgamation of flavours. For mains, I ordered a nutty Christmas special, with a pastry case made of pressed nuts and grains, and a creamy smooth interior. The flavours were intense and whilst a healthy dish, was extremely sating and filled the need for a stodgy dish. The contrasting textures were excellent, particularly considering no gluten, wheat or dairy had been used to make it.My friends went for the buffet, which is priced on how much it weighs. They excitedly sampled a variety of dishes and were similarly happily surprised at the tastes and textures they were met with, for a very reasonable 12 average per person. We also ordered the nachos, which were nutty and rich, and served with a smashed avocado dip, a pineapple salsa with a tart, sweetsharpness and -as requested by us – some seed-cheese, for a creamy finish. All in all, a very relaxed, organic and easy-going place which is kind to the wallet, as well as to your insides. Go withan open mind to experience a different kind of good food, as well as a wadge of cash; this place doesn’t take card, so come prepared. londonismyplayground.wordpress.com

I visited eco-restaurant Vantra on Oxford Street at the weekend with my aunt (a vegetarian of 20+ years) to indulge in delicious veggie/vegan food, allowing us to eat lots of cake in the evening! The best thing about Vantra? Its nut-free and has been since opening over 15 years ago. This unusual and inspired restaurant is ideally located at the Tottenham Court Road end of Oxford Street. Normally considered a hellish part of London, Vantra makes a relaxing and enjoyable break from the hordes of crowds outside. The restaurant focusses on healthy, nutritious food from the vegan lifestyle that tastes and does good. The produce used is all organic and mostly raw to maintain its natural state and give the body as many benefits as possible. In fact, Vantra was one of the first London restaurants to serve living food, whereby food is never heated above 48 degrees C, which preserves the maximum amount of enzymes, vitamins and alkaline benefits. The menu, or lack of, is vast! Think Ottolenghis but vegan. The counter is full of vats of curry, dhal, stir fries, raw salads, grains, sprouts, dressings and salad toppers plus specials like creamy stroganoff, kimchi stew, soups and biryani. Alongside these dishes Vantra serves an extensive range of juices, smoothies, coffees and teas plus a raw, indulgent hot chocolate.I had one of these hot chocolates during my visit, which proved as much of a pain in the backside as an opportunity for me to see how accommodating Vantra is. You can chose from coconut or soya milk, so I went for soya. Next the hot chocolate is topped with flaked coconut and coconut syrup to sweeten which I cant eat. So they searched the kitchen for a yarra root sweetner, which was both delicious and nutritious. We also dined from the counter. I enjoyed a broccoli and chilli stir fry, lentil dhal (YUM!!), cauliflower and veggie curry (coconut free), cucumber salad (raw), kale and cabbage stir fry (mostly raw, kale was very bitter), plus a sunflower and fennel raw salad. All together in a tray for 6, Vantra is both well priced and really damn tasty. We felt indulged but not heavy; just what you need after a days shopping. theyoungdomesticgoddess.blogspot.com
