Terribly bad stereotypical Chinese food. Soups were just corn starch and soy sauce. The veg spring rolls were bite sized, just too tiny. The tofu and peppers appetizer was dry, bland and frankly, unappetizing looking. My friends could not finish their chicken dish due to it being red hot spicy. Thanks but no thanks, young cheng.
I’ve visited the branch before when they were along Shaftesbury Avenue, usually for a late dinner if I’m still hungry after an event! I like Young Cheng because their food is simple and non-fussy, and of course good value for money! I usually order the soup noodles with wonton or roasted duck – or sometimes duck AND wanton if I’m feeling extra greedy…Like most places in Chinatown don’t expect super polite service – but as long as the food is good and cheap I don’t think many would mind :pThere’s lots to choose from the menu, so you’ll kind of be spoilt for choice.I’d recommend a visit 🙂 dancing-in-high-heels.blogspot.com
From the same owner behind the ever popular Mayflower at the other end of China Town, Young Cheng is one of the better Cantonese restaurants in China Town. Most of the kitchen staff has been transferred from Mayflower earlier this year so expect similar quality. The roast chicken dishes here are a must try, very moist and flavoursome at a very affordable price at the same time. Other classic dishes such as stewed lamb hot pot and steamed minced pork are also worth trying. The downside of Young Cheng is it hasn’t got the best service and lack of space as tables are extremely close to one another. foodanddrinksnoob.blogspot.com
We had a quick pre cinema meal at the Young Cheng. The atmosphere was typical of this type of place, full of fast talking waiters ( fast talking to each other in their own language that is ), and tables covered in paper tablecloths. I don’t mind as long as the food is good. And good it was. A proper WonTon soup and half of a crispy aromatic duck with pancakes and veggies was all that we wanted. It tasted fresh, crispy, and full of flavour. What more do you need ?
This is the furthest thing I have eaten from Chinese food.Frying everything and serving it with fish sauce/siracha does not make it Chinese food. This is an all u can eat buffet and looks really tempting. The pricing is cheap. But like a one night stand u may not regret it then, but will definitely regret it the next day.The edible and coming to the proximity of good are the steamed shrimps and the chicken in black mean sauce. The rest all taste the same. All the best
Its food is about the average for china town. But that’s not saying much. Decent enough if you are starved for choice and want some Chinese to fill your belly. quieteating.com
We were close to chinatown and decides on a buffet. This one had some variety bat the dishes were not much favor. And the wine was also not the best choice.
