About
Freds Beer and Tapas: Our building at 4 Market Place, was home to the White Lion Hotel. The Landlord, Frederick Butcher was born in Bath in 1860 and was a beer and wine merchant. "Fred" as he was known by the locals, also founded Lion Brewery Chippenham Ltd, during the late 1800s and early 1900s. The building was later taken over by brewers Ushers of Trowbridge and over the years there have been a variety of uses for the building including a bakery and clothing shop. Fred was passionate about flavoursome brews and wines and we at Freds Beer & Tapas celebrate and share this passion by serving a carefully selected range of beers and wines that fuse in a heavenly match with our other passion for Spain and authentic Spanish tapas. Be prepared to experience and savour some of our favourite tapas dishes and drinks in our intimate sociable setting or relax with a cold beer in our rear Beer Terrace. We are an exclusive evening tapas bar and walk-ins are welcome, we do have a limited amount of tables and to allow others to experience Freds, the maximum group size that we can accommodate is 6 persons. We operate a "sitting" system enabling guests to enjoy a 2 hour window to experience Freds. The "sittings" start at the following times 6pm, 7pm, 830pm & 9pm.We advise booking in advance to avoid any disappointment. Our kitchen opens at 6pm and closes at 930pm with last orders taken at 9pm.
