The price is high and the portion small. The price on the menu on the window display is deceptively lower than the actual price. They also tried to rip me off with a completely wrong bill. The food tasted good but this whole experience made me never want to go back.
Not as good as it was …and tax scam going on. Food not as good as it used to be and a somewhat surly waiter didn’t help. Bill came scribbled in Vietnamese and they refused to accept credit cards. On pointing out that we have paid by card before and we weren’t informed of this before sitting down the waiter said their card machine had been broken for months and there was a cash only sign on the window. We scrambled together the cash and on leaving saw the sign…on an inner door covered by a chair. Clearly a tax scam going on.
Persuased by my mother that it was worth the journey from the West end to North London, I gave VyNam Cafe a try. My mum told me she loved the food so my sister and I met up for a catch up dinner. The menu doesn’t do the food any justice. The menu sounded plain and slightly flavourless and not at all very nice. The actual food however was fantastic and fresh. Everything was fresh and crisp and each dish had it’s own flavour. It was all incredibly tasty and delicious. Being new to the Vietnamese cusine, we weren’t sure how to eat the Sizzling Hot Plate chicken and fish. The waiter kindly showed us how to roll the chicken into rice paper etc. The service was really good. They were kind and helpful. I would describe Vietnemese food inbetween Chinese and Japansese cuisine. It’s refreshing, tasty and strangley comforting. Its relatively healthy but some of it is fried. I really enjoyed it. The actual restaurant is slightly cramped and always busy! I would love for it to become bigger! The decoration etc. Is minimal but the food is very nice! I enjoyed it- it depends if you like oriental cuisine.
