The dimsum place!Had my first dim-sum experience here and it was super awesome. I had no idea of what to order though and so let my friends do the ordering. Though I had let them know about my interest towards steamed dumplings. And when they started arriving in the bamboo baskets, it just looked amazing. All dumplings were good, (I cannot name them individually). But the ones with prawn fillings were superb. Though I would avoid the ones with rice covering as they were very difficult to eat with chopsticks. The surprise dish was rice and radish cake, and a rice soup. I never expected the radish cake to taste so nice, and paired with some soya sauce, it was just perfect. We also had squid rings and fried octopus, they were a bit too chewy for me.The place is good for casual dine. Service was prompt, and the tea was tasty too (which was on-the-house); I think we drank 5 pots! The final bill came to 50 for four of us which is pretty cheap considering that we were really stuffed.Definitely an experience on it’s own and worth visiting whenever you feel like having some dim-sums!

To be fair to the restaurant, we ate on Chinese new year’s eve so they were very busy but being a Chinese restaurant in the heart of Chinatown in Manchester we expected them to be prepared for this; they weren’t. The general look of the restaurant isn’t great but could be worse. We arrived through a ploom of cigarette smoke which encompasses the entrance to the building, the lift in the foyer wasn’t working so we climbed the steps up to the dining area. We were greeted and given a table promptly. After ordering our drinks and food at the same time we waited 5 minutes for our starter, sweet and sour pork soup and then a further 10 minutes for our drink. The soup was authentic, not too sweet like most sweet and sour dishes. Following this our dim sum arrived which was average, spring rolls, spare ribs, prawn toast and sea weed all of which could be found in your freezer at home. Then the duck arrived, again nothing special, accompanied by cucumber and chive slices. After this the we waited 50 minutes for our next course, our table was only cleared after I called over a waiter having been ignored by several other waiting staff. We had obviously finished the duck and we noticed that some other tables around us had also been waiting for quite some time. The mains were mediocre at best, the sizzling pork was the best of a ba lot, the sliced chicken flavourless and some sort of fish selection cold and dripping in a transparent liquid. The sweet and sour pork didn’t arrive and when we asked we were told it was only for tables of four or more even though 35 a head price was the same with or without the sweet and sour. We wanted to leave and asked for the bill with our desert which wa one scoop of vanilla wall’s ice cream sprinkled with cinnamon. Fortunately the bill was delivered to us much quicker than any of the food had been and we begrudgingly paid the 75 bill. To add insult to injury we were both ill the following day. Avoid this place like the plague!
