This restaurant looks somewhat sketchy from the outside, and inside it is a bit garishly decorated, but the service is flawless, and the food to die for.Went 3 times during a 5 day stay in Manchester, and loved every visit. The food selection is very good, even for my companion who is gluten and dairy intolerant. Everything was tasty, fresh and delicious. And it tasted real ! Like proper Thai. A new visit to Manchester will definitely mean visits to this restaurant.
This restaurant offers a beautiful cheap dining experience me and my partner had the Ribs as a starter and Pad Thai as main which were delicious! You can bring you own alcohol which made the night out even cheap. Will definitely be going back and highly recommend!
Hidden away among the many chinese restaurants of chinatown, this thai restaurant is much nicer that its entrance would suggest. Climbing a fly of stairs you access an elegant wood-panneled dining room, decorated with flowers and thai furniture. The menu is quite vast and can feel a bit disorienting, but none of the dishes me and my friends tried disappointed us. We tried green chicken curry, pad thai, moo yang (sweet marinated strips of pork) and tamarind duck, all accompained with coconut and sticky rice. Although I have had better curries and pad thais in elsewhere before, Phetpailin’s are quite good, with curry well balancing its spicyness with the coconut’s sweetmess. Moo yang was especially good, the meat having deeply absorbed the sweet marinade flavours. With a main with a side of rice priced at around 11, Phetapailin makes a great and competitive alternative to the chinese restaurants in the area.
