Weekend away from the kids. Me and my wife visited the blackhouse grill on saturday for the first time as we had no kids for the weekend…..and what can I say.From start to finish it was so much fun. We were greeted by a smiling host, the xmas decorations made us smile, every member of staff had a smile on their face and the atmosphere was lively but not overpowering.Our server was extremely attentive and the food was delicious. Steak and seafood done properly. My ribeye was so tastey and my wife’s hake coronation was to die for. It was a perfect night and the live music made it all the better and the manager found time on such a busy night to come and say hi.Just one piece of advice…..don’t change!!!thank you
I went with 2 friends last night, and unfortunately it was a bad experience from beginning to end.- Told on that we would lose our reservation if we were more than 15min late. It may be policy, but it was delivered in a less-than-customer-focused way, and did’t take into consideration that we called 25min before our reservation when yhe restautant (we discovered) was only half full.- 2nd bottle of wine was the first bottle of wine I have ever sent back. It was nothing like it was described. And it was a California Zinfandel…I’m from California…that was not a Zin! I don’t care what the bottle said. It tasted like a white zin.- the 2 medium rare steaks came bkue…no joke. I have eaten my steak rarer than I prefer to avoid problems, nut this was too much. We sent them back.- one in the party ordered dessert and was given the wtong one. Fortunately the person was mid-conversation when it was served, and the waiter swapped it before he began to eat it.Fortunately the wait staff who served us were very good, attentive and apolohetic, and the steaks were not on the bill. But we won’t be going back or recommending it.
It is vastly overpriced and the service and the staffs attitide is terrible
Great food. But it was spoiled by the waitress taking my plate just as I it the last piece of steak in my mouth, then followed by the desert menu before I had swallowed my food! So poor service
Manager and receptionists let the place down, really poor service from them however the food was delicious which made it all the more regrettable. Goto Gaucho instead
Great food, but loud, rushed and ridiculously overpriced, even with the ‘food’ discounts that you can get by email. No denying the food is tasty though, starters portions are small and 7-8 quid a pop for something interesting.
