Fair enough, on the plus side there is a lot of space both inside and out. Food is what you would expect for the area and the type of pub. I’ve now had the Sunday roast and dinner there on separate occasions.IMO the Sunday lunch was a bit of a disappointment. Just a bit lackluster. service was okay. Though there is a kids corner and on the day we went a lady came in and read stories/did coloring in etc with them which was good.Dinner was a better option, in particular their burger. I can;t say i was expecting much when ordering it. Having suffered through a number of very mediocre pub burgers in my time. This was anything but . An excellent burger, the right size as well. on first glance it looked small but in reality it was spot on.Dog friendly, good seating outside. Inside atmosphere is a bit lacking.but if you are on the common and need some food, go for it
Sunday, bloody Sunday. Having previously had an amazing experience here, we were bitterly disappointed by the Sunday lunch offering. We had been warned to pre-order the roast, but no such warnings were given about the rest of the menu. In the end, there were only a third of the offers available, and even then we were told things were unavailable after we had ordered. All credit to the staff – they were clearly used to the scathing commentary and handled our obvious frustration with aplomb, doing everything they could to appease. The sad thing was it ended up feeling like being invited to your mum’s for scraps and scrag-ends; the reason we had gone out to dinner was to avoid this in the first place. We haven’t given up, but we will definitely pre-order everything in future. What a shame…
Unsympathetic spiced food. One should believe, that the chef would spice the food to the degree of ‘taste a little bit’- but, no! I had Pork Medalion, it had no taste other than what I put on it…of cause the chef might have a bad day. I will try again and come back with more, overpriced as well!!
No longer a stale old pub. Haven’t been here for a while and boy, has it changed. Used to be a regular, but moved away. Went back recently and it has transformed into a super cool place with a serious kitchen. At least I think it’s a serious kitchen. The menu looks great and saw some food going out that looked excellent, but when I tried to order, they told me that the kitchen was now closed. Why? Was I too late? Nope, it was only 7pm. Turns out, they clean the kitchen on Sunday nights at 7 so it’s closed. What the…!!!! You don’t close the damn kitchen on a Sunday evening to clean it, you do that when the place is closed! It’s funny how a place can look so cool and upmarket while still reminding one of an episode of Falty Towers. Having said that, the place looks great apart from this lunacy and they have Young’s beer, which is great. There’s also a cool room at the back that looks all Eastern (like an add for Fry’s Turkish Delight!)
Lovely pub. Great beer garden. Very over priced food. Food us very average and megre portions. Overall, great for a drink, bad for food!
