The incredibly rude restaurant manager made us leave the restaurant last nightSo first, if you want to dine in a decent restaurant this is not the correct spot. It is a mixture of something like a pub, club with live music and uncomfortable tables for dining. Really very noisy.Secondly very rude restaurant manager. We had a couple Chinese cookie price (2 bottles of Prosseco) from our previous visits. We were 7 people Id like to use these vouchers. The manager said that we cannot use them. Because being so noisy, we couldnt understand why we cannot use something which we were told a few times we can. We were sat at a long table and she was on the opposite side of where we were seated. She did not come to us to explain. When my fianc asked her why we cannot get the Prosseco, she said that they have T&C at the back of this little, teeny-tiny piece of paper. My fianc kindly asked her to tell us these terms and conditions because he did not have his glasses and he cannot read them. She literally responded It is not my problem you cannot read them. You cannot get 2 bottles of Processo. So guys, before you consider dining there make sure you have earplugs and your glasses with you, in case you need to read their terms and conditions. I personally will never go to dine there again and warmly recommend you do not go too.

The best dim sum I have ever had. And the ones I usually go to are the real deal.Fu Manchu keeps them amazingly delicious and with the most incredible textures but with a slight hint of modern food. I had the steamed spinach and scallops dumplings, the spicy mushroom soup, the baked sweet pumpkin puff and the best ever mushroom and ginger buns. I will be back!

The VibeClapham is a vixen. Naughty Clapham! Fu Manchu, the new late night cocktail bar and dim sum restaurant is going to fit right in to Claphams cheeky little scene. A stones throw from Clapham North tube station yet not that easy to find its located under the railway arch as you turn right out of the station. Theres an underground feel to the space, which only serves to add to the minxy vibe. Theres a long, incredibly well stocked bar the length of the left side as you walk in and the rest of the space is flanked around the edges by high tables and chairs . The lighting by Louisa Smurthwaite is neon then soft then gone and back again, theres a big painting of Fu Manchu (for the record, he was a great big homicidal maniac eek) on the exposed brick wall looking down at us all with a Machiavellian smirk almost encouraging bad behaviour and the bar staff are ferociously shaking and stirring, and looking hot while doing it. Things are going to get messy. Dont say you werent warned. The Order The dim sum is delicious (despite what Grace Dent says). All of the favourites are here: har gau (king prawn in translucent wrapper), sui mai (prawn and chicken open dumpling), gow choi gau (prawn and chive dumpling) the list is properly endless. Big shout out goes to the salt, pepper and chilli broccoli, da healthy nibblesAh so what if its fried? Get em down ya. The menu doesnt stop there either; there are salads such as the hot and sour rare beef, soups, set menus too and a selection of Jing teas. The cocktails are tasty (made from Asian spices and Chinese tea infusions) and potent: lethal combination. Try the Green Tea-ni (Bombay Sapphire gin, green matcha powder, sugar syrup, apple and lime juice or the Manchu Mind Control, which is a moreish blend of secret recipe grog shaken with guava, mango and lime juice. Served in tankard of Fu Manchus face. The GameFoodies: invite your squeeze for an amazing Sunday lunch spread, enjoy some carefree cocktails and chat about travel, food, sex and mystery. Go for a walk on nearby Clapham Common afterward to walk it off.Players: its Friday night and youre looking for a hottie to hold. Fu Manchu is likely to be buzzing with fellas and gals looking to have a good time. Make a play for the bar at around 11pm and sidle up to someone who takes your fancy. Give them a smile. Ask them their name. Buy them a cocktail. Get them on the dancefloor and lose yourselves to the night. The FaultsIt gets sweaty in there.Sex Factor4. Easy there, tiger. socialconcierge.co.uk

Back over in South West London, a late night dim sum and cocktail bar named after the villainous Fu Manchu has opened up in a railway arch by Clapham North. It gets a bit clubby for Matt The List’s tastes, and cocktails were a mixed bag at the launch, but having an extensive dim sum menu available til late is definitely a bonus. London bars are incredibly poor at providing quality, filling food with drinks – hopefully others will follow Fu Manchu’s example. For a in-depth look at the cocktails, head over to Highball Hoodoo’s boozy blog. We enjoyed the delicate Secret Essence of the Poppey Hill (Sake, St.Germain, Rose Liqueur, Lime Juice, Cucumber) and Blood of Fu Manchu (Eristoff Vodka infused with Chinese 5 Spice, 10yo Port, Ginger Pure, Oyster Sauce, Chilli Powder, Tomato Juice) but were left bemused by a Green Matcha powder-based Green Tea-Ni that shouldn’t have made the cut.If it’s dim sum you are after, head down on a Sunday this June to take advantage of their 19.95 all-you-can-eat offer from 12pm-10pm (1.5 hrs maximum stay!). The Chao You Sai Laan Fa (Salt, Pepper and Chilli Broccoli) was pretty excellent, and there are 36 other tasty treats to stuff your face with too. mattthelist.com
