Nice pub with lots of space but quite busy on a Sunday. The downstairs has more modern decor while upstairs you get ceiling murals and a fireplace. There’s an outside area which will be great in summer as it’s more of a semi- hidden side garden than an open front and has couches too.The atmosphere was nice but I think more appropriate for bigger groups. If you have 10 people going for lunch then it’s perfect, if you’re only 2 it feels a bit like you are taking up more space than you should. The staff is quite friendly and will help you carry some of your glasses if you’re buying a Roy d and can’t carry everything because the upstairs bar is not always open.In general it’s a good place to have in mind when looking for somewhere out of the way to go last minute, otherwise wait till the weather is better so you can go sit outside. darcrose22albionadventures.blogspot.com
I went to The Sun( the restuarant) with one of my mates who’s a bit of a regular there. It was after a game of footy and we were absolutely starving. We skipped starters and got straight onto the mains with a Chorizo burger and fries which really did the trick. The burger came with all the fillings I expected and added real flavour to the pork. I then went for the raspberry and peach crumble with Apple sorbet, which was another delight. At the end the bill came to 14 which was well worth it .
One of the best pubs in Clapham, The Sun, in Old Town is a great place for a thirsty Thursday or a sedentary Saturday. With a good range of draft beers and extra space both upstairs and outside, it’s perfect all year round. As one of my favourite places for a mid-week drink in Clapham, I inevitably end up eyeing the menu which offers all the standard pub fare, but with a slightly higher, gastro quality than usual. It won’t blow your mind, and the prices are pretty standard for London (which always feel a little too high), but the provincial feel and chatty atmosphere makes it worthy of a visit. Slightly better food and more sunshine than shade outside would have boosted the score, but in genera,l perfect for a pint if you’re in the area and want to avoid the High Street. londoncurryblog.com
