Ok so came for a quick lunch meeting, the decor was good and a lovely atmosphere in general. The waiting staff were extremely polite and engaging.Their juices are lovely I had the carrot and ginger one and ordered the steak salad. The meat itself was cooked perfectly at a medium rare standard the salad itself was just rocket as stated on the menu and the onions were delicious. The dressing had a good taste but was far too oily which even left a bit of an oily aftertaste in my mouth. All in all it was decent, I just didn’t get any wow factor from it.
Downstairs Smiths is great for a drink after work with a great atmosphere and well priced drinks – is also good for a breakfast at the weekends (only around 6 for bacon and pancakes and is yummy)First floor dining is averagely priced and the burgers are wonderful.Have not been on the second floor dining room but looks as if it offers good steaks!
Booked in to the 3rd floor for valentines and even though I had built this place up in my head, boy did it deliver!! I can’t wait to go back. We had a couple of fish starters that were really clean tasting and well portioned to leave room for mains. The wagyu burger was incredible….definitely lives up to the hype and isn’t a compromise vs ordering a steak
Brilliant beef, delicious burger and squid to start. The pinot noir could have been bolder for my taste. Overall lovely venue, excellent staff, would highly recommend but not for vegetarians
Came here 1st June for burger and chips and it was a pretty decent burger actually. Very popular, the dining room was packed. I liked the decor although the hallways with huge photos of butchers and the style of the toilets reminded me of the horror film saw! 😉 Bit haunting but decent burgers! foodobsessedsam.wordpress.com
Awful – we ate and drank in the cocktail bar, greeted by no one, ended up having to find our own reservation, waited 10 before heading to the bar myself(it’s supposed to be table service, and at this point they weren’t particularly busy), after which the waiter sauntered over to take our order. Food was ok, chips arrived 10 minutes late(after reminding them). All in all terrible. The only reason it’s 2* is because the waiter was very apologetic when I complained and had the sense to charge us nothing for the food and for only 1 round of drinks.
If we lived there, we’d be regulars. This place appeared to be a breakfast hot spot for the locals. It was always crowded-although we never waited long to be seated. The traditional English breakfast was excellent and reasonably priced. The place was somewhat noisy with the music in the background making it difficult for conversations. Overall, the food was excellent and they made us feel right at home.
