Friday. London’s most exclusive restaurnt never fails to deliver superb home made traditonal Italian food. Massimo Scotti and his mother, Mamma, run the place. From Milan, the food is typical Milanese and informal. Entering the restaurant is like a enteriong a time warp and into the late 1970s, decor and cutlery have not changed. The food is simple, with Mamma’s minestrone soup highly recommended, as are the delicately cooked prawns with avocado. Mains include beuatiful filet steaks, veal escalope milanese, gorgeously tender calves liver, veal in lemon sause, all served with pototoes, zuchinni and green beans. With a choice of red or white wine, a selction of spirits and Max’s (Massimo) singing and dancing to pop quiz from a clapped out Ipod. He is a master of decks with a music knowledge spanning the decades from the 1960s> He knows every top 40 song in the UK charts. The only problem with the place is, it is always fully booked and you can only make a boooking if Max already knows you and likes you. Some regulars have been going there for 30 years, when max was just a 9 year old waiter bunking off school.! Love it.
