About
A Scandinavian influence is the order of the day at in North Road restaurant; the food is best described as modern European, with strong Nordic influences courtesy of owner and head chef, Danish born Christoffer Hruskova. The dcor, too, features clean lines and handmade oak chairs. The name is a nod to the restaurant's location, based in London's Clerkenwell. This was the starting point for the pre-Roman Great North Road, which linked the English capital with the Scottish one, and also refers to Hruskova's Danish heritage. Years of experience cooking in top-rated kitchens in Copenhagen, Sydney, San Francisco and, more recently, Islington have made Hruskova what he is today, however the menu reflects his true passion: clean, simple Scandinavian flavours made with the freshest local produce. Comparisons to that other famous Danish chef, Ren Redzepi of Noma, aren't too far off the mark; specialities include dishes like Norfolk deer loin with beetroot, burnt hay and smoked bone marrow.
