A quick dash from Leicester Square and you join a long queue where you are served by pleasant and willing staff hot chai. You are then sent down to the basement for a drink all leading up to the meal you are waiting for. The mutton samosas followed by the Crispy okra is just the right starters to dig into the chicken ruby and the biryani and … just sumptuous
Well visiting this place has become like a checklist item you have to comply with ..after 4 attempts of one hour plus waiting time finally allowed myself a little more time and patience to get in.. The thing I liked was the fact that dishes were as spicy as you would get in India and not optimised that much to suit local palate..Ambience is alright tad hyped up .. Food is worth the wait tried our chicken ruby, prawn Koliwada, the daal and they were mouthwatering levelWill go again provided I can take out 1 hour 1 more time 🙂
Good indian food . Very crowded place snd it is very noisy but the food was ok. We ordered pav bhaji , bhel etc . We had to wait for 45 minutes to get a seat . It gets crowded in the evenings
What a find.. I must say. I loved the okra fry and everything there. Went there during holi time and was feeling so festive. Food is good. Ambience is okay. Staff was quick and nice.
This restaurant came highly recommended from friends who raved about the food and warned about the queues. The place always seems packed so the venue must be doing something right.Located in the redeveloped area at the back of Kings Cross, it is definitely a destination location. Its not really on the way to anywhere.
Wow!! To getting tea in the line to the incredible food inside it was all amazing!I ate a vegetarian chickpea dish which was served with puri and halva. The chickpeas by themselves were sweet and delicious, but altogether was a flavour bomb inside your mouth.Something so different to what I’ve tried before.Highly recommend to book (if you can?) or guarantee you’ll wait outside for at least 30 mins
Visited Dishoom for dinner yesterday and it being Saturday night was welcomed with a 1.5 hr wait in the queue. But having travelled all the way just to try this place we thought what the heck..lets go for it. They do give you some nice chai to sip on while you wait in the queue. So finally when we manage to grab a table all we care about is the food.We order for a pav bhaji, okra fries, veg samosa, mutter paneer, roomali roti and garlic naan. The pav bhaji is creamy and I cannot explain the joy of eating pav after a long time in London. The samosas are okish…Not exactly the way they are made traditionally. The star of the evening are the okra fries..boy you could just finish this whole bowl by yourself.. deliciously crispy! The mutter paneer tastes a little sweet to my Indian palate. The naan is better than the roti. We wash it all down with nimbu paani and good old Thums up! Coming to deserts its gulab jamun and pistachio kulfi. The gulab jamun is soft and nice but the kulfi clearly steals the show. The service is great and it is really commendable the way they handle the crowd. If you are planning to visit this place do not I repeat do not miss the okra fries!
