Looking for a place to rest our feet and eat something after a day visiting the museums and turist attractions of London, we found the Il Padrino near Leicester Square. One of the things that attracted us to step into this place was the reaction of an italian guy, sitted outside, almost in tears of joy because of the realness of his capuccino, a value we would also find inside. When we came in, the il Padrino himself welcomed us, asking if we wanted to drink a glass of wine or to eat some pasta in his really authentic italian accent. We found a really cozy space, in medium light, creating a romantic athmosphere. Influenced by the first italian guy, we ordered two capuccinos, wich were really good and creamy (i had never drank suck good one) and a slice of carrot cake, wich, to be honest, was a little bit dry. I was really sorry i did’t ordered one of the special toasties like my boyfried did: his salami, mozzarella and tomato toastie with salad and chips was divine. One of the many attractions to this place is the Il Padrino himself, like i already mentioned: besides his outgoing personality we caught him talking in italian (obviously), english, german, french and when we asked him if he could talk in portuguese he surprised us with a few well constructed setences.

Food – 4 / 5 – We ordered vegetarian dishes. Started with some garlic bread and ordered Penne arabiata, Vegetable Lasagna and a Veg supreme pizza later. Food overall was delicious!Ambiance – 3.5 / 5 – It’s the usual outdoor sitting italian restaurant with heat rods so that it’s a little comforting. Nothing extraordinary.Service – 4 / 5 – Very courteous and prompt.Cost – It came out to be 16 quids per person, so I would say it was pretty reasonable given the portion of the dishes.

It was a bright summer afternoon and we were scouting a nice little place to grab some lunch when we happened to chance upon this place. We sat in the al fresco section, and were greeted warmly by the staff. We ordered in a pint of carlsberg and a cocktail – both were excellent. For mains I had the meat lasagna and my friend the white sauce pasta. The lasagna was served in a rustic ceramic dish, beautifully presented. It was by far one of the best lasagna’s I have ever eaten in my life! The chicken pasta wasn’t bad either. We spent about 33 for the both of us, so yes value for money, fantastic food and excellent ambiance. Loved it!
