My sister and I along with my sister’s friend decided on havingg lunch here after going through the menu and clarifying whether some of the dishes (vegetarian and seafood) did not contain/ were not cooked in alcohol. The interior was beautiful. The servers were very friendly and passed by with a smile on their faces.I ordered the Pan Fried Tiger Prawns and Homemade Lemonade; my sister had the Farfelle Pasta with Orange Juice; her friend ordered Half Char-Grilled Chicken with Homemade Lemonade and a bread basket. The black olive tapenade that came with the bread basket was delicous. I could have eaten that all by myself. The mains came together at the same time. My Tiger Prawns arrived in a small flat pot and looked lovely. However, it was a messy job removing the tails and head, and for this, they provided a finger bowl. The garlic butter sauce that the prawns were cooked had a very overwhemling taste after a while. All in all, it was a decent dish. I enjoyed my sister’s pasta plate more in comparison to mine.
Was craving some French Onion soup, and Palm Court Brasserie seemed like as good an option as any.The interior resembles your typical French brasserie, something you might see lining any street in Paris. The Chairs, the deep red colours, the long bar, the New Art posters on the wall. The food was OK. I really love my French food, and can be quite picky. They offered us some baguette and olives (wasn’t expecting a few pieces of bread and olives to cost 7, so that was a bit of a surprise when we got the bill. The French onion soup was quite good, though some time under the broiler would have been nice. The cheese was kind of already melted into the soup, so a tad goopy. The fois gras starter was quite good, served with caramelized onions and toast. We also ordered a cheese fondue, which was a huge disappointment. For one, it took 40 minutes to prepare. With a timeframe like that, I was expecting something pretty decent. What I got was a melted brie with buttered/ toasted baguette pieces for dipping. No wine, no kirsch, no nutmeg. Essentially, no fondue. Actually, I can say this was the worst fondue I have ever had. It was still tasty enough– it’s melted cheese and bread. But for 13 and 40 minutes, I expected a bit more effort than a melted brie.
Tourist trap, very bad food.
Cath found this place and it was one of the nice offers out on the websites. I think it was 20quid per head including drinks. Very nice food, good service, a bit cramped but very nice 🙂
Not impressed. We went as a theatre deal. The menu was limited, however the food was tasty. Service was poor – from a very snooty waitress.Would avoid!
