On the South side of The Strand between Adam Street and Carting Lane, close to The Savoy, you will find the PAUL Bakery & Caf, serving freshly baked hand made bread, fresh viennoiseries, fine patisserie, freshly prepared artisan sandwiches and salads, hot and cold drinks, to eat in or to take away, all with an absolutely authentic taste of France. We are very conveniently located for the Savoy Theatre, the Adelphi Theatre, the Vaudeville Theatre, the Lyceum, the Duchess Theatre, the London Coliseum and numerous others in theatre land. Victoria Embankment Gardens are just behind us, and a bit further down past the turn for Waterloo Bridge is Somerset House, home of the Courtauld Institute Galleries, which houses a very fine collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings and other prints, drawings, sculpture and decorative arts. The collection includes works by Manet, Degas, Monet, van Gogh, Gaugin and Czanne as well as 20th Century works by Modigliani, Matisse, Kandinsky and the Bloomsbury Group. Somerset House itself is magnificent, with a vast courtyard which hosts a terrific programme of concerts and events in the summer and ice skating in the winter. Before the river was embanked, it used to lap against the South Terrace of the building, and the view of the river from the south of the building is still wonderful. The closest stations to our Strand branch are Charing Cross (Bakerloo Line, Northern Line, national rail) and Embankment (Northern Line, Circle Line, District Line, Bakerloo Line). 16 seats are available.
