Claims to be Italian – don’t believe it, there is no passion in this food. The Bruschetta tasted overwhelmingly of plastic. It wasn’t even properly prepared – dry chopped tomato, falling off the toast underneath. My 10 year old son refused to eat his pizza – a first! They were sloppy and tasteless. The red house wine at 6.50 a glass tasted marginally better than Sarsons vinegar (or was it the other way round?) and was given back to the waitress at the end for a refund. We should have realised whilst waiting for our food what to expect – the place is grubby, untidy (boxes of bottled drinks to manoeuvre around to get to the table) and amazingly, not been closed down yet on health grounds.Even by London standards, the cost was outrageous for the small amount of food we had between us.Use this experience to your advantage – go into any of the many restaurants a few steps away from this one – but don’t prolong the agony of Polpettine staying open for much longer by giving it your money.
