When you trying to find this restaurant try to look out for lots of bushes around it because it covering the name of the restaurant.I was waiting for my friend outside for ten minutes and all the pedestrians who walked passed seem to have something to say about this place. I heard that it’s very popular in London and it very entertaining which was a good sign for me :)When my friend finally arrived we sat in the centre of the restaurant so we could be closed to the performance. We wanted to sit upstairs but the waitress said you have to book in advance and put a note on your booking for upstairs seating.I love the design of this restaurant an old medieval theatre style 😀 it’s hard to pay attention to my friend when I’m looking at everything. If you don’t know what to order I recommend having a set meal because the price would be around 30. The portions was quite fair and I was very full and had no space for desert :'(Luckily I went on Wednesday night because they had a performance. The singer there was absolutely charming. The song lists was perfect!! I’m into old songs but not 90s music. I want her to perform at my wedding but I’m still to young I’m afraid and no one propose to me yet D: whyyy!!! But I know that she does perform for birthdays and weddings 😉 if anyone is interested.I had to say has a great night here I’m definitely coming back to see other acts!! The downsides is that the place is quite small and the waiters have to bend a lot which causes lots of accidents. I saw two glasses broken and a plate dropped :/ so be careful if you sit near any stairs.

The quirky (and often RATHER SAUCY!) decor and unusual layout of this west end eaterie is actually much better than the food! We opted for a shared mezze to start- bowls of hummus, tzatziki, shakshuka, cheese and mushroom puffs, beef in a spicy sauce, black olives and hunks of bread for mopping. Though it was tasty, it was pretty standard fare. For mains, we both had lamb shank- again, tasty but nothing spectacular, and we felt it was all a bit overpriced for what it actually was. However, top marks for quirkiness and atmosphere- the live mariachi band entertainment and the blush-inducing murals on the toilet walls! Gave us plenty to talk about all evening!

One of the best experiences ever!

We went here for lunch and immediately figured it’s a dinner place. Food and service were great. The ambience was lovely but the place was empty (I guess a function of Monday afternoon). Would definitely recommend for the decor more than the food. Quirky and interesting place.

Stunning atmosphere, theatrical service, delicious food and a golden experience all around. Sarastro is one of my favourite restaurants in London, and I recommend this hidden gem to foodies who are looking to book a unique experience for a special occasion. Stick around for dessert and get the chance to experience their amazing musical show. justanotherfoodie.co.uk

This restaurant is nothing like i have seen before, Very theatrical. Food amazing. Service was good. I would recommend. Turkish restaurant with a twist, not like the Turkish restaurants in Kingsland Road.

Just terrible. Absolutely appalling on all levels. AVOID.. Just terrible. Absolutely appalling on all levels. The staff were rude and unhelpful right from the start of the evening. Claimed we didn’t have a reservation, despite us calling the day before and even providing credit card details. They brought food to the table (and refused to remove it) before we’d even seen a menu, ordered drinks and before even all our party had arrived! Drink orders were missed, wrong and then forgotten (juice was watered down squash). To say the food was bland would be a compliment, it was worse than bad pub food, with grey vegetables and reconstituted potato…just really bad. Table setting was sloppy and non-existent with things just thrown on the table randomly. The table clothes and napkins were tired, worn, and dirty (and crushed-velvet napkins, weird). Decor is interesting certainly, and really could have been fun, if the reality of it wasn’t that you are squished in tables unable to move, sitting on uncomfortable benches. For a restaurant with a decent price tag associated with it, it was absolutely a let-down and I would advise people to AVOID. Hands down my worst dining experience of 3 years in London.
