Although the food was decent at this restaurant BEWARE as although our order was supposed to be nut free, it was not and as a result, our 9 year old suffered an anaphylactic response to the pistachios that were present in one of the dishes. A medical emergency anywhere is scary but when you are on vacation in a foreign country, even more so! After contacting the restaurant to inform them of their mistake…no one has responded. I find this totally unacceptable! At the very least, our meal should have been free of charge. I would like to attach an article letting this restaurant and its patrons know of the dangers of nut allergies! http://globalnews.ca/news/2720994/penny-pinching-restaurateur-jailed-after-peanut-allergy-customer-dies-from-no-nuts-dish/
A nice place to come if you are looking to try something new. Its well situated in Strand but due to its size and surprisingly unfamiliarity amongst my network, you may walk right past it. I strongly recommend that you choose a prawn dish for the main, its made really well and sitting here, thinking about the dishes only makes me want to try it once more! The dishes are also quite filling and the waiters are very courteous and kind to the customer. Good place.
I went to this place with a group of friends and they recommended that the food was simple and tasty. That is all I wanted after a long tiring day ..light food !At first when we entered the place, it seemed small but it was well sized. We had to wait for a table as we were 7 of us and had not booked prior to coming. The wait was not that bad. The manager was really understanding and when we requested him to serve food that was without onion and garlic for one of our friends, he willingly accepted our request and suggested more options that did not have garlic and onion. The food was overall good and was served well in intervals. Can try ..simple and light !
We, a group of five, visited London and stayed at Strand Palace Hotel located on Strand, cultural hub of the city. On being served with bland British dishes in the official lunches and dinners for five days, we decided to try Indian food on the last evening of our stay in London. We spotted ‘Sitar’, a cozy Indian restaurant on Strand and ambled across from our hotel for the dinner. The restaurant, owned by a Bangladeshi, had a good number of fish preparations. I had missed my fish ‘big time’ and straight went for Bengali fish curry along with a plate of plain rice. As the friendly waiter informed me that would be large cat fish (Bowal in Bengali/Malli in Malayalam), I instantly nodded my approval. A generous portion of fish, cooked in light Indian spices was served. It tasted really good and wholesome. Another Bengali colleague of mine had opted for Goan fish curry & rice and yet another colleague from Delhi had stuck to chicken curry & tandoori roti. All of us returned as happy souls!
Great Presentation Disappointing Quality. I tried a meal over the Easter Holiday weekend. Sharing with my dining partner two appetizers, two entrees one veggi side and some rice and naan. The presentation was great –sauces spiraled and stared on the onion fritters but the fritters themselves on the greasy side.Garlic Naan hot and tasty with some green chive sprinkled on as well! Aloo gobi tasty but heavy on potato and light on the cauliflower. The shrimp on the chefs recommended page were well to be avoided. They appear to be first flash fried in a light chickpea flour then char-grilled. Looking crispy with a nice char yet upon tasting long overdone. Chewy to the point of eating rubberbands (elastics) ugh. I tried two on my plate of seven leaving the others untouched– no staff commented on the uneaten plate full set aside and subsequently removed. Left me wondering if they were flash fried earlier then reheated on the char grill. In all it looks good but lacking..
