I’ve been to Terroirs at least five times, and yes it’s very likely I will go again: its location is perfect, the selection of wine and drinks is great, the food is good and the prices are right. So why not rating it higher? There’s one thing that I cannot stand in any kind of restaurant or caf, and that’s being asked to leave because the table has a second booking. I totally get that its policy is clearly published in their web page and probably in their menu too. I just cannot get over to be allowed to enjoy my drinks and food and my friends’ company just for 2 hours. I totally understand that the prices are not really high, the location is premium, but there has not been even once that I haven’t been rushed out. Last time we were paying the bill and we were asked to leave the table. Staff are very polite and not rude at all, but be aware: this place is busy and your time is running and they will let you know. Perfect place for a first drink, but no time for a second one.
This is probably the best restaurant in the Trafalgar Square area. It’s always my go-to lunch spot whenever I visit the National Gallery. You can either stuff yourself silly on cheese and charcuterie – something I have done on many an occasion. Or you can enjoy a variety of small plates. Or you can go for a full-on three course meal. The food is modern, French-inspired and always delicious. Their wine list is vast, with a focus on France and Italy. However, you can also select a number of wines by the glass.Terroirs is an easy place to enjoy a quick bite or to while away a number of hours in good conversation over great food and wine. My only gripe is that they seem to have increased their prices of late, but overall I can really recommend this restaurant to locals and tourists alike. thedetermineddiner.com
I love this place – one of my favourite places in London. Been going there for years and its a lot harder to get into but its still lovely. The wine is great and the food never short of great. Charcuterie board is a must.Great date place too.
A real treat. An excellent Juranon accompanying delicious potted shrimps and fresh Dorset crab. The simple gem salad was a real treat. We’ll be back b
Very nice. Seated downstairs (less noisy) tortilla alioli to start bavette main. Very good. Room temperature not as warm as I would like. Service very good.
Poor service on second visit. I wrote a review in praise of Terroirs on 6 June. My second visit was not a success. Two friends and I opted for an early dinner. We arrived at 5:30pm with the hope of enjoying a meal before the Opera at the ENO across the road from Terroirs. When asking for a menu the waitress informed us that it was not yet printed and will be ready in a few minutes.Fine we thought. 20 minutes later we remained sans menu and strangely sans waitress. When we finally managed to track down our waitress we explained that the anticipation of awaiting for the freshly printed menus was proving too much to endure and asked if there was any possibility of someone pressing ‘send to print’ before curtain up. At this point we were immediately offered a menu which had clearly been available all day; in fact it was the exact same menu as detailed on the Terroirs website. Why could we not have been offered this menu upon arrival is beyond comprehension.Clearly Terroirs has a lack of care toward customers.I will not be making a third visit to Terroirs.05 Jun, 2010This is a fantastic find tucked off Trafalgar Square. Sit downstairs as the atmosphere is somehow better: the air con, good fun crowd, and excellent service helps set the mood for an evening of relaxed traditional French food. Amazing Chicken Landaise for 4 served with chicken liver pate on toast. Excl.wine list. 250 for 6 . Great value.
Nice and ‘slow’. They really espouse the slow food ethos in the kitchen and cellar of this centrally located gem. Well worth tracking down as it’s a great place to enjoy a glass of wine and a couple of light plates after work. See the full review at http://www.grumblinggourmet.com
