The skeptic in me didn’t believe the menu that boasted london’s best croissant. But on trying it I have to report not only is it true but even their cappuccino is ok elf the finest I’ve had till now that it is definitely one of the best – I recommend the ham and cheese croissant . I’d avoid the ricotta strudel next time, as it was slightly dry and dough-y. But this place has some promise! saanyagulati.com
The ambiance at the Delaunay was a big draw. Their pastries and latte were always good. I can vouch for their rich, delicious eclairs. A great place to relax at in the afternoon.
A disappointment. Came here for late in the afternoon for some hot choc and cake. Service was terribly slow. Hot choc was too sweet, cakes were dry. The atmosphere is better than anything else on offer.
The Sacher cake they have here is enough reason to visit this place every now and then. Great selection of other cakes and pastries to accompany a cup tea in a nice classic European caf atmosphere.
Food: one of the best cafs you will find in London. Offers a delicious and wide selection of food. I recommend any of the sausages, the chicken soup, the chicken salad and the pretzels are great! As for deserts, the poppy seed cake is a must try!!I haven’t tried their schnitzel but my brother always gets it/loves it. So I am sure that whatever you try you will enjoy! Atmosphere/Seating: unique in its style. GO CHECK IT OUT. service is pretty good too.Location: close to holborn/covent garden/charing cross, near quite a few theatres including the Lion King one! Bon Appetit!
For some cake and a coffee The Counter at the Delaunay is a nice spot to step out of the hubbub of traffic and pedestrians on Aldwych, and particularly if you like European-style cafes and bistros. An adjunct to the Delaunay’s main grand European Cafe Restaurant The Counter takes the more transient customers looking to takeaway or stop for half-an-hour.It sells a range of pastries, cakes and tarts, Viennoiserie, soups, salads and sandwiches, specialising in a good continental breakfast and some all day staples. The place feels evocatively French with its cosy tables and old-fashioned counter, some gentle 1920s-style jazz playing in the background.I had one of their signature pastries the pistachio mille-feuille, with layers of egg custard and pistachio cream, with an Americano. But under the glass counter there were many other temptations that caught my eye, including a superb-looking rhubarb and poppy seed cake.
