Can’t fault the London Port House! Given I’m a huge fan of the restaurant in Dublin, it had high expectations to meet, and it absolutely did.It has a similar menu to the Dublin branch (large selection of Spanish tapas varying between meat, veg and cheese – all delicious!) and the setting is just as dark and romantic. Ideal for a romantic date!
I walked in and was quite enchanted by the place. It feels like walking into a cellar or cave in a good way. It is extremely dark and cosy with candlelight. It would make a really good romantic meal. I had expected to waltz in at 6:15 and get a table but it must get a lot of pre-theatre business as the place was pretty much full.I went with my mum who doesnt eat very much these days so we only ordered three dishes to share between us (and I ate most of those). Luckily I had had a snack beforehand. We got the confitado de pato and patatas bravas con alioli and, because we felt we should have some vegetables, the pisto diced, slow cooked vegetables with oregano, paprika and olive oil with a fried egg on top instead of manchego. The dishes were a bit hit and miss. The vegetables were really just a slightly watery ratatouille which an egg on top didnt make particularly interesting. The duck confit leg was delicious, as duck is wont to be. The membrillo sauce it was served with was a nice, sweet contrast. The patatas bravas were decent I didnt think the fiery tomato sauce was particularly hot but the garlic mayo was definitely garlicky and I liked them.Everything is around the 4 or 5 mark and I think you get a decent amount for this. We also had a glass of very nice red wine.Sadly, thats all I had so I dont know what their pintxos or other, more interesting dishes were like. I would like to go back to give a broader, perhaps fairer review but there are so many places to get to, a repeat visit is low on my priorities. I would definitely say, nip in and if theres a free table/seat at the bar, stay a while with a nice glass of wine and give it a try. There could be some nice surprises on the menu. jaminaward.wixsite.com
A little gem for some yummy tapas and great wine selection. I have been to this place 3 times now and never been dissapointed. Lovely warm ambience, great service and a huge selection of tapas up choose from whether you’re a vegetarian, meat-lover or seafood connoisseur. Don’t miss the gin and tonic and book in advance if you are more than 7/8 ppl.
I think this place is an underrated and a concealed gem! I decided to drop in following the awesome reviews and found myself really happy when i went in.The exteriors might seem so extraordinary but the interiors are quite spacious and wonderful. The seating arrangement are varied and can accommodate a lot of people. The menu was very attractive with yummy dishes and drinks options. We were quite full after eating several bites of heaven. The service here is really hospitable and knowledgeable.I know i will return for sure!
I visited this place on a Satuday. It has a very good ambiance perfect for a dinner. We decided to order about five dishes and they were all in appropriate portions and enough to give us a taste of how the food is at this restaurant. Everything we had was exceptional and very well prepared, except the Patatas bravas which were delicious but lacked the zing. The drinks were very delicious and offered in large glasses. I would definitely recommend this place despite the slow service.
In London,if you wish to have the delicious and the best Spanish food, Port House is the place. I went to visit this place for the first time and I had the best time there. The food is very fresh and healthy to taste. The staff is also very friendly and efficient. I really liked the atmosphere since it was very calm and romantic.
I’ve been a lover of Tapas since my childhood and I’ve had some mixed experiences in Spain as well as in England. However, I happened to try out the Tapas served at this place and had an amazing experience. The staff was pretty friendly and gave good recommendations for what to order. Another great thing about this place is the Gin and tonics, which were amazing and are served in some really innovative flavors.
