We really need a place like this in Willesden Green – it would be even better if they had proper chairs instead of benches at all the tables… the ambience is really nice. Service is a bit hit and miss a bit like the food. I keep trying it as i really want it to work.I’ve eaten in there 3 times now – first time, had a burger which was small but delicious and the chips were soggy, my friend had chicken and salad that was delicious. We had the chocolate fudge cake for desert – it was far too sweet and we couldn’t finish it.We had breakfast in there on Sunday – both ordered the big breakfast – 2 eggs, bacon etc etc. Unfortunately the bacon was so hard it was like leather and the sausage was also overcooked – am guessing they cook everything in advance and keep it warm – if you’re gonna do breakfast, you have to do it fresh and properly….. the toast was only toasted on one side…..Just had lunch there – had chicken and salad – again the chicken, which tasted delicious was a tad overcooked therefore a little dry – better than undercooked i guess, my friend had scrambled eggs and toast which he said was excellent.I will give it one more try before giving up – but they really need to address the overcooking everything issue – if they do that – i will be a regular.
I was really keen to visit. The Queensbury Kitchen is the sister restaurant of the popular Queensbury Gastropub. They also do brunch on the weekends from 9am-11pm!This restaurant is located a short 2 minute walk from the Willesden Green. On an extremely cold winter evening, this was the perfect place to come in and seek refuge. From the tastefully done interior through to the little details like the seating and the bar- it was all so welcoming. The long table in the middle is a perfect for a big group with lots of food in the middle- sharing, laughing and eating!Having never tried Blackened Salmon before, I decided to go for it. Salmon is one of my favourite fish to eat so was really interested in trying this variation. My friend went for their burger and I got massive food envy I just love a good burger. The blackened cod on its own was delicious and cooked well. I wouldve liked some kind of potato gratin on the side. The cherry tomatoes definitely helped otherwise the dish wouldve been too dry. The salmon was cooked to perfect and wasnt dry at all. The almost crisp black coating gave the salmon its real flavour. I wasnt so sure about the salad on the side. For the sides we ordered sweet potato fries (but of course), the hand cut fries and I wanted to try the smokey beans so ordered those as well.My bad, I thought smokey beans would be more dry but they turned out to be a smokey version of baked beans. On their own, they were moorish and we kept on dipping our spoons and having a bite every now and then.My friend loves her burgers and she gave the beef burger a thumbs up. She loved it! The beef was cooked to perfection and it was full of flavour. I did wish I had gone for a slightly greasier option too :DLooking at the dessert menu, how could we NOT order the Ice cream sundae fruit version! 😀 and the Chocolate Brownie and Ice cream dessert. There used to be a flavour of ice cream called the Tutti Fruiti in Pakistan and it was one of my favourites. The Ice cream sundae was the upgraded and better version of that. The slight tang from the berries offset the sweetness of the ice cream and we kept on eating. The generous helping of fresh cream on top was heavenly! (7th cheat day of the week)Any menu that has the chocolate brownie and ice cream combo or related to chocolate is on my list of automatically order. My brain just doesnt register anything other than that. Im more of savoury person and I dont like overly sweet desserts and this one was definitely not. And Im glad it wasnt. The brownie, ice cream and the chocolate sauce on top- all complimented each other and made for one epic food coma after. The grill options and sandwiches look amazing especially the sticky chicken and sweet chilli sandwich on their menu so definitely going to try that next time. Also The Queensbury Kitchen has given me a reason to go to Willesden Green. I had never been there before! 😀 The Queensbury Kitchen is definitely one of the reasons you should go there. SO heres me going out on a high! foodiarieslondon.com
First impressions of walking out of Willesden Green Tube station is of a quite suburb where even the high street seems welcoming and not maddeningly crowded. My reason for the venturing into a leafy suburb in NW London that evening an invitation to attend a bloggers review dinner at The Queensbury Kitchen a New All Day Bar and Grill which opened to the public late last year.We had the long central communal table with high stools reserved for the evening and a tempting selection of cocktails to start with.I loved the interiors which seamlessly incorporate the industrial chic feel with the understated. White tiles, rustic tables , a turntable sitting in the corner belting out numbers on the L.Ps, tungsten filament bulbs illuminating the tables add a cosy touch this lovely new grill and bar.The Mango Chilli Caiprisoka (7) is just what you need to unwind after a long day , the sweet and sour taste of fresh mango slices work fabulously well with Vodka and the chilli gives your palate a sharp kick neatly balanced by the chilled ice and lime wedges. If you want to try something quirky I recommend the Evergreen cocktail, avocado and alcohol why not!First up we were served several sharing platters with BBQ Chicken (for 15 you get a whole organic chicken in a selection of 3 fab sauces BBQ, Cajun and Bloody Mary!), Blackened Salmon (9) and mini burgers (7) both regular and chickpea and feta too. Then followed mixed leaf salads (3) , sweet potato fries (4) and onion rings (3). When the Macaroni cheese (4) came along, it was like nothing else on the table mattered I thought it would start a war at the table ;)If that is making you salivate , you can well imagine what happened when the ribs came to the table . I had waited all evening to try the the pice de rsistance and I wasnt disappointed. Not bad for 15 huh?Though we were sure that we wouldnt be able to eat another morsel, one look at the desserts and our defenses crumbled. After all platters of cheescake, brownies with ice cream and tall ice-cream sundae glasses are simply impossible to resist right? Just 5 each too.And its not just British classics and Quirky cocktails that they do well, they also serve up a good selection of breakfast menu options at great prices, am talking Eggs Benedict/Royal or Eggs Florentine for 6 now why not go get yourself a lazy breakfast or brunch with freshly brewed coffee this weekend? Go on, you know you want to!This is another one of those epic review dinners that I will always remember for the fabulous food, great company, brilliant staff, fab service and the Chef for spoiling us with a great selection of food. A special mention to the PR agency and all their team members that went our of their way to make the each one of us feel well looked after, making for a really comfortable and enjoyable evening. So if its great evening out with your friends or simply chilling out with your colleagues after work that your after then head to The Queensbury Kitchen, its a stones throw away from the Willesden Green Tube station and good on your pocket too. Am thinking new favourite watering hole on Friday nights for those around Waterloo . Well, you got to try the ribs and the punchy Mango and Chilli Caipiroska at least once to know what I am talking about! travelsfortaste.com
Queensbury Kitchen, Willsden Green – I love a blogger event. Meeting different people and learning their perspective of food. This event was a sit down meal. You might get stuck with an utter bore but if that is the case, at least the food makes up for it. And for me, I find an aperitif helps me with my shyness. mango chilli caipirinha 7.00 not too sweet and has a real kick to it. I prefer this as an aperitif and not as drink throughout the meal.apple mojito 7.00 this mocktail is tangy, with a hint of mint, and not too sweet. I would recommend this if you are not drinking.pinot noir caipiroska 7.00The prosecco frizzante was one of the better ones too quite smooth without the sharp taste that is normally associated proseccos. Shame they do not do it by the glass. On the drinks menu is a small selection of red and white wine, at around 20.00 per bottle and 4.50 – 5.50 by the glass. As introduced above, a selection of cocktails (7.00 each) and craft beers (4.00 – 5.00). Child friendly options are milkshakes and soft drinks. The theme of the invite was an Ultimate Queensbury Kitchen Experience. And the food was a spread of decent finger food burgers, grilled food and sandwiches.halloumi and vegetable skewers x 2 7.00 – slightly spicy and very tasty, a very fresh taste.blackened salmon 9.00 Brilliant timing on the cooking because the flesh was so moist. Quite pink in the middle, but perfect for me. crispy chicken wings with hot sauce and sour cream 6.00 chicken wings always speak to my heart. I find that the cumin was slightly too strong, and did not really compliment the hot sauce. slider it looked a little plain and dry but I find myself biting into a deliciously cooked piece of meat. The brioche bun was a little too sweet though.chickpea and feta burger surprisingly good vegetarian burger. Often chickpeas can be too dry but this is the right balance! A smear of spicy relish (not as spicy as the mango cocktail) was even better. The best part was both the burgers were not messy. Brilliant! warm sweet potato, mushroom and roasted garlic salad 8.00 – the croutons were slightly hard to bite into. whole rack of ribs 18.00 falls off the bone, I find the sauce was slightly overpowering. a selection of sides (clockwise from top) – hand cut fries (3.00): ones on the bottom became soggy, sweet potato fries (4.00), smokey beans (4.00): it was REALLY smokey, macaroni cheese (4.00), onion rings (3.00) Looking in from the outside, Queensbury Kitchen has a very inviting feel with the soft yellow lighting. They are relatively new to Willsden Junction but I can see that they are gaining momentum in the neighbourhood foodie scene.I enjoy the casual and social friendlyness that the place exudes. Just one long table in the middle with high chairs, surrounded by wooden benches and tables at the sides. These are proper wide tables with plenty of arm rest and enough butt room on the benches. It is not the low-cost canteen scene. It is classier. Perfect for an impromptu week night out or a laid back weekend with cocktails and some societal food. Prices are fairly reasonable with sandwiches at 7.00 served with chips, sweet potato or fries, burgers from 7.00 and the grilled food at an average of 11.00.And, let’s not forget the desserts all at 5.00 each.cinnamon sugar churros with chocolate sauce the churros have a sophistication that one does not get on the street in spain, the chocolate sauce was delicious, if a bit milky for my taste.lime baked cheesecake beautiful texture, with a good taste, but not tangy enough for me.ice-cream sundae -if creamy indulgence is what you are after, look no further, this is sublime!chocolate brownie and ice cream this resembles more of a flourless chocolate cake, dense and moist, but was a dismay that the chocolate taste was not more intense.eggy bread with blackberry, pistachio and cardamom head chef Wayne’s experiment. Not too sweet, not my kind of dessert but perhaps a custard on the side will make it nicer. Will we see this on the menu soon?Queensbury Kitchen is open for breakfast, lunch, diner and for coffee cravers for seven days a week (09:00 hours to 23:00 hours). In fact, breakfast is served until 17:00 hours.Head chef Wayne Bumfrey is a jolly soul and handling such a crowd of us including some walk in diners, he still remained a peppy personage. Thank you so much both to Queensbury Kitchen and Red Kite PR company for organising this successful and a successful Ultimate Queensbury Kitchen evening. vi-vian.com
