A true gem in South West London! There are not a lot of places where you can enjoy AL fresco dining without hearing the London traffic. Its outdoor space is great for summer, but the latest upgrades to the menu makes it a lovely place to be in winter, too! Thank to Paolo, this restaurant keeps surprising us even after 6 years of custom. Will come back for those mussels 🙂

Great i like it!!. I was at Marco polo very recently and to tell you the truth I have to disagree with the some negative reviews. I was with a group of friend for a Sunday lunch the place was full!! As we arrived the manager come to us with very polite manners, toke us to the table, straight way the menus and wine list was given to us. After a short while one of the waiters comes to our table asked if we like any drinks or aperitifs, so we order our drinks, the wine was chilled as we requested, then we order a mixture of starters and where fantastic, good food and well presented, the main courses were fantastic my steak was cooked to perfection and the pepper sauce delightful. So on overall I give 9 out of 10, I highly recommend it. Ps very good atmosphere!!! It’s fantastic one of the waiters said!!!P. Alexander
NEVER AGAIN. I decided to give this place a second chance, as I was disappointed with the service and food on my first visit. I have never needed to write a review on a restaurant before but on this occasion it is in the best interest of everyone! The food is nothing short of embarrassing – the chef obviously has no interest in his work what so ever. Bread was stale (2.50 charge) no butter or olive oil to accompany. 8 will get you 4 tiny slithers of (tasteless) Carpaccio or 6 tiny slithers of (tasteless) swordfish on a bed of chopped iceberg lettuce. Or for about 18 you can get the 1/2 lobster…. worst lobster I have tasted in 30 years. Pasta (safe choice for an Italian you may think) is tasty but overcooked. Main course – Sea bass was ok. Squid was like eating a rubber ring and once again came with nothing. Having paid the 135 bill (for2) we asked for the obligatory complimentary shots of limoncello….another bill appeared for 8! The Manager was consulted but refused to drop the charge. They then poured the shots back into the bottle in front of us! As someone else said – do not get fooled by the awesome location. The food is dreadful and over priced the service is ok (there were only 4 other couples eating in the whole place), the manager has no clue or interest. *****AVOID*****
Don’t be fooled!. This place has one of nicest riverside terraces that you’re going to find in London – a far nicer spot than the river cafe across the river… Perfect for a summers evening and not too stitched up despite the interior looking like stringfellows. Trouble is, the food is achingly average at best and laughably (if you weren’t actually paying for it) appalling at worst, supported by some of the most incompetent waiting staff you’re likely to meet. If you were wondering how you managed to get a table, that’s why. In summer 2008, the balance between the venue and the menu tipped just towards the venue, as the food was just average. Don’t know what’s happened this year but however tempting that terrace looks, unless you set your expectations low, really low – don’t bother. Go to Carluccios 5 minutes up river instead. If it carries on like this, it’ll be gone by the end of the summer since the terrace is the only draw. Eat before you go and take a book.
