Absolutely disgusting. Had my 93-year-old Nan and a three and five-year-old with us. The majority of us ordered a chicken dish (bearing in mind there were 9 people) and all the chicken dishes were RAW! We ordered starters which they got wrong as well and I’ve had to change it after we waited so long for it. Attitude of the owner, manager and staff was disgusting. We cut into one chicken meal and blood started running out of it. You’re better off going to curry cabin down the road much better staff and food is actually cooked. These people should go to favourite chicken and find out how to cook chicken properly.
I guess after eating at a restaurant for 21 years you have to write a review. Not only is Surma the best curry on lordship lane, for the first time in my life I have fully understood why there is a 10% service charge. Chicken Korma – 5.95Best korma on ends.
Classic ‘British’ Indian. Surma won’t win any awards for innovative cuisine, though they did win the East Dulwich Forum best curry house award in 2007… ;-)It’s a fairly standard curry house. Nothing exceptional on the menu, good solid standard dishes prepared freshly and well. If anything they’re light on the spicing, slightly too heavy on the oil on occasion. It’s a go to after a few beers joint, and they do an excellent Sunday buffet. All you can eat for 6.95. It’s not fine dining, but it fills a hole.
