Such a beautiful Tudor building in a picturesque Thames bankside location. The interior is very traditional, warm and dark. Service was extremely slow, but this was mainly down to the kitchennot sure what was happening in there. Staff are young and friendly. All of the dishes were cooked extremely well. I’d recommend the smoked salmon starter and Sole main course.Starters:Smoked salmon, whipped horseradish cream & Rhodes bakery bread, and Welsh rarebitMains: Cornish sole, and Fish pieDesserts: Damson Bakewell and Ice Cream.
Excellent ambiance, small but great selection of beers (Inc Meantime craft beer of course) & wines, lovely food. This historic pub is a pleasure to wile away time in, and very busy because of that!
Embarrassment. Booked a table for 3 by phone – my parents were visiting, and I was taking them out for dinner as it was my mother’s birthday. However, when my parents and I arrived, we were told that they can’t find my booking, full stop. After I argued, we were offered a tiny table in the very back of an empty bar area (rather than in the restaurant where I actually booked for the special occasion). At this point we had no choice but to walk out. I have lived in 5 very different countries, and I have traveled half of the world over the last 20 years – but this was by far the worst, most embarrassing experience I have ever had in a restaurant. Avoid unless you enjoy dealing with unprofessional idiots.
Poor attitude. Great spot for a pub, had many happy memories of drinking there when I lived in the area, so popped there with my son and his fiance for Sunday lunch. My guests had a genuine complaint about their meal. The waitress was most charming about it. However I have no idea who the lady was, who came to sort out the problem, but she had the most awful attitude. Handled the problem in the most appalling and insulting way.The management of this establishment really need to get some training on customer service, of course with their site I suppose complacency rules. I’d think twice before dining there again, a real disappointment.
Definitely a summer pub. Lots of outside seating by the Thames. Normal pub grub, quite alot of fried stuff.
It’s not cheap pub grub but it is nice. The fish & chips portion is huge & very tasty. But I was disappointed with scampi. Lovely ambience inside & great view of river, canary wharf & O2 from upstairs & outside. Staff are friendly & service quite quick considering how busy it is in there on a sat night or sun arvo. Would recommend for pub grub! Prefer the Yacht or Talf Tavern for drinks.
Very touristy pub with often expensive and stale beer. Food is nothing special either, but does offer a stunnning view of the river, canary wharf and the o2!
