Was walking by the streets and came across this beauty and thought of trying this place. So I went to this place with a friend and I absolutely loves the decor of the ambience. I absolutely loved the place.

The Vanbrugh, Greenwich tucked away in a residential area on a quiet street away from the main road is The Vanbrugh. The pub attracts a combination of families and young diners. I also think that most of them are regulars to The Vanbrugh. The pub is not huge, but with different sections for the bar, dining area, garden and a hall for events, The Vanbrugh feels large. Do make a reservation if you want to dine in here because they can be full and there are no other places like The Vanburgh in the area. There are also varies events happening at The Vanbrugh. The pub holds quiz nights, live music, comedians and performers and mums and babies session offers (Tuesdays). The menu at The Vanbrugh consist of a handful of starters (average of 5.00), mains (average of 12.00) and desserts (at 5.00). Prices certainly are very reasonable. Daily worker’s lunch, Mondays to Fridays, are priced at 9.00. The style of food is a combination of classic pub food with a modern style. It can be slightly noisy with the open kitchen and the background music. Service was very friendly and polite although I have a feeling that they were quite under-staffed that evening, hence the service was slowish. The kitchen staffs were very accommodating to people with food allergies, taking extra care in preparing and cooking the food. They did not take advantage and overcharge us.The Vanbrugh is a cosy pub, great for family and friends get together, intimate meal for couples and for events. The only downside of it is The Vanburgh is not easily accessible by public transport. Probably that is why there is a sign above the entrance door (and on their website) says, Greenwich’s best kept secret; from the public transport, I should add.The food:1. southern fried chicken with rocket, cherry tomatoes, roasted peppers, peas and sour cream 10.00 the two chicken thighs made the dish a very generous portion.2. pan-fried salmon with quinoa, peas, cherry tomatoes, roasted peppers & lemon dressing 13.00 The fish was cooked beautifully; skin was very crispy but the meat was still slightly pink, moist and most importantly, the fish was still warm when I ate it. The quinoa looked horribly healthy but the taste did not disappoint. Well-seasoned and elegantly presented, I think that the size of the fish could be bigger.3. Clarkshaw’s Phoenix Rising-battered haddock fillet with triple cooked chips, mushy peas and tartar sauce 12.50 Deliciously crispy batter makes this an excellent dish, the chips are large and crisp but I did not like the fact that the tartar sauce (which was very good) was, rather than being served in a bowl on the side, smeared onto the plate with the chips on top, this meant that as I worked my way down, the chips got very soggy, having soaked up a lot of oil from the tartar sauce.4. sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice-cream 5.00 A wonderfully rich, but not over sweet, dessert. If schools did it like this, I would probably still be institutionalised!5. chocolate brownie with vanilla ice-cream 5.006. lemon tart with raspberry sorbet 5.00 vi-vian.com

Away from the town centre on a Monday night, The Vanbrugh plays host to one of the best pub quizzes in the southeast area. There’s a heated marquee with ample seating and comfortable sofas by the bar, perfect for drinks with friends and a bit of fun to ease you into the start of the working week.

Not a nice experience here. The staff were rude and lazy and seemed more interested in their own conversations than attending to customers need. Food average, not worth the money. Although the selection of beers on offer was wide and impressive, the pricing was not! My advice? Go elsewhere in Greenwich to get better food, service and a cheaper price.

A nice little local, nice menu and beer. No tourists here! Recently refurbished and has a nice room out back and a garden too. A couple of TVs not over kill but nice to watch the Rugby!!
