An Excellent Surprise. I came across Flakes one Monday evening in October 2011 on a two-day visit to London.I had never tried African food before, but the place looked friendly enough, albeit empty. I opted for jolloff rice, plantain and beans, the cautious option.In a few minutes the lady in charge produced a huge plate loaded with pinkish rice, a vast mount of plantain and enough beans to feed an army.I moved in, and found it was absolutely delicious, and cooked to perfection. What a treat!The lady also produced a mug of hot tea to wash it down.And the whole thing only cost 6!The next day, my last, I made it there in time for the lunch buffet and had the same thing, this time served by a young man, who had trouble with the tea, however. I just about managed to clear my plate when he offered me another helping (this was an all-you-can eat buffet), which I had to decline. 5.All in all, a very friendly place, delicious food and superb values for money. I onloy wonder why I never saw anyone else in there, though the lady said they do a lot of catering out.This is a no-frills place, but it is clean and friendly, a cross between a restaurant and a cafe. I would recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit different, filling and tasty and a superb price.
