Sabor Peruano is a small place with tables on two levels. I was taken over there by my Peruvian friend, who since she’d discovered that place seems to have become a regular. She says the food is just like her mum did, so you can be sure it’s authentic.Every other Saturday there is live music, and after 10 PM – dancing. Everyone tries to make you feel welcome, so while waiting for our table upstairs, we had a nice chat with one of the musicians, and one of regulars. The food is insanely fantastic. Make sure you order cassava! It’s one of the starters. We also had fried plantain, and were served complimentary cancha and fish stock. There are three vegetarian options among the mains, and I chose fried vegetables with rice on the side. The veggies were lovely – not overcooked, which is so common among non-Asian cuisines.Following our Peruvian friend’s advice we ordered a drink made of Peruvian purple maize, and later desserts: a pudding with purple maize, pumpkin in doughnut-like dough and ice-cream from a local, Peruvian fruit which name I forget.Everything was fantastic, portions were filling, and the atmosphere was great. I’m sure I’ll go there again, and I’m sure I’ll order the cassava again too 🙂
