Delicious lunch, had pea risotto, hand cut chips, and chicken liver parfait. All tasted great. Table service from well groomed and efficient staff. Not on the cheap side, but there is a 2 course lunch option for 11.95 that is very good value. Close to the cathedral and castle. Family friendly.
We recently stayed at the White Hart Hotel for one night and had breakfast at this restaurant as part of the booking. The extra 10 pounds on top of the room charge was a cheaper option than paying the al la carte prices on the menu we viewed.The large restaurant had quite a few seats, but the area at the rear of the restaurant with the glass roof was far cooler on this weekend morning (which suited us well). Staff were initially a little melancholy but did improve as the breakfast service continued.I enjoyed a bacon butty that had 3 delicious slices of back bacon in a soft bap, a good portion size. Had to ask for HP sauce as no signed of any condiments were on the table. Davids porridge was a rather meager portion and came without a spoon, that we had to request.We asked for a pot of coffee but it would seem that you can only have a cup at a time that can be refilled if you can catch the servers as they pass by your table.In summary, the food was good but nothing to rave about, service improved after initial grumpiness, and value for money was probably what you would pay in surrounding establishments although adding an extra small charge to our room price was probably a cheaper option. nofixedabodeforsue.com

We can’t wait to go again..
