Excellent once again. I’ve eaten in every restaurant in the Bail area of Lincoln and this place trumps the lot. Great quality, service and presentation, Nowhere else in Lincoln is close. I have no bias to this place except being consistently impressed. Having moved up from London, I’m a regular food blogger hence my Prime status. I eat out at least once per week and the Tower is just super on all aspects. Close second is the Wig&Mitre. I hope it can keep up this high standard and I look forward to visiting again.21 Jan, 2011Best Restaurant in Lincoln. Without a doubt, this is easily the best restaurant in Lincoln. I have eaten in most, all of the high end ones and I speak with experience. From quality, presentation, decor, ambiance, staff service, price and indeed the eating, this place trumps all. Event the mighty ‘Old Bakery’ around the corner is a close but clear 2nd to this dining room. Service is exceptional, the room is modern, chairs are very comfortable and you feel like your in a wonderful environment. This is despite the odd frontage to the building, which does look like and old peoples home, but do not be deceived. The food is exceptional, well presented and professional and you will be given the high end treatment of Chef’s Amuse Bouch, sorbets and pre-desserts between courses. Much of the dishes utilise seasonal local produce and they are all served in a haute cuisine style, but without Haute prices! Wine list is diverse (not huge) but of excellent quality and not overpriced. Next door is a very well appointed Wine Bar which has a more discerning clientele (those that know) and a wide range of quality drinks and a separate Bar Food menu, that upholds the same standards as the main restaurant. There is a patio area at the back and furthermore a number of fine outdoor tables where the full Al a Carte menu can be served. This is a hidden gem in Lincoln and well worth seeking out. Look beyond the OAP front door and go in, you will not be disappointed!
Average. Nothing to get excited about at all. They gave it a bit of a faclift a while ago, which is alright but nothing special. The food is the same as any where else in the Bailgate…all in all I say try somewhere else a bit different.
