Gourmet Night – Not bad. Great Value.. We went for the Gourmet night (British Isles Theme) the other night and enjoyed the meal. Great value as it was a 4 course meal with 5 glasses of wine. This included a British sparking wine and dessert wine. The Rioja with the main course was outstanding. The meal was very good although the starter was served and indeed finished before they served the first wine. But overall the food was vry goodd. Back to the good food I expect from the W&M. The do need to look at investing in decor for the dining rooms, they look a bit tired, especially the furniture. We’ll go again no doubt.03 Mar, 2011Usually a solid winner, must have eaten here 20 odd times with nothing but praise. Bit disappointed tonight, fish overbooked and gnocci undercooked and dreadful. Our other dish was excellent, blue cheese mash was a winner. Red wine warmed to perfection. Mixed reaction and my first visit where I leave not totally happy. This place breeds the best Chefs in Lincoln (some who have moved on to the best places in Lincoln including my favourite, the Tower Hotel). I cannot fault food or presentation and the wine or ale to go with it rocks. The Wig is a dead cert for a quality meal. Great function rooms (I booked my brothers stag do meal upstairs). The back room needs work but the front is a great atmosphere. I’ll be back again & again. Great!
Over priced pomp.. The same food can be found elsewhere at a much more palatable cost. Therefore if the same food, prepared with at least equal, if not better, quality, at a fraction of the cost (The Green Dragon being just one such establishment, for example) can be found within it’s vicinity, it does not take a genius to comprehend this is only worth a visit if you are feeling particularly frivolous, or as is much more likely, everywhere else is fully booked!
