Food good, service dreadful. As always our main meal in The Albert was very tasty, albeit expensive with too few vegetables and chips to go round. But the waitresses … where on earth do they get their staff ? The only girl who was friendly was the one with the short croppy hair. The others were very serious and seemed to be rushing, had no time for us, and just banged the food on the table, leaning over our guests instead of walking around to the side. We had taken two guests and were very embarrassed when we were given our dessert of profiteroles, we had to ask for the chocolate sauce twice and were just sitting there looking at these dry profiteroles. When the sauce eventually arrived, five minutes later, we were told to be careful it was very hot as it had just been made. It was stone cold. My husband had fresh fruit salad and again, we had to ask twice for the cream. Surely these sauces should come up at the same time, not later when we really don’t want the food any more. I asked for a gin and tonic, a glass of I presumed gin and tonic was brought to the table from the bar, filled up to the rim. I wanted a bottle of tonic unpoured and a glass with the gin. She took the glass back, brought over a bottle of tonic and a glass of ice. No gin. What the heck is happening here? Jonathan, instead of watching the football you should be watching your staff or at least employing people who know what they are doing and are pleasant to the customer. I have noticed over the years this pub and restaurant is not as popular as it used to be, however with the football on it was really busy last night with a good atmosphere. We might return when they get some decent staff who are properly trained.
