Good food, poor service I have been there with my friend for breakfast , the place looks modern and fancy from the road . We ordered two dishes which included smoked salamon and drinks. However one of the waitresses came to tell us that they run out of salmon and we can choose other dishes. We were particularly looking to have bendict and salmon that morning so we told the waitress that it’s fine if they don’t have and we will still be happy to wait and have the drinks and we ordered a tart so that we have it with the drinks too , but the lady seemed upset that we didn’t want to order any other dishes and she responded with impolite tone of voice and she had awkward face expressions. We just ignored that and we had our order. Tart was nice but drinks were not extra hot as ordered. Upon payment we wanted to pay by card and the lady said they charge 50p even that our order was nearly 10 but she said it has to be above 10. As I decided to go to the cash machine the same waitress started looking at the other staff and giving awkward expressions again. I believe this place has a great potential and the owner I think was there and she looked as very kind lady speaking to customers individually who seems to be regular there, the food was nice , but for sure there is bad quality of staff making the experience unpleasant. A place can only be pushed up from good experience to great experience by the staff service and attitude.

Chorak is my go-to home bakery. it’s exactly located between East Finchley tube station and my home, and I often stop by for a cake and cuppa. It has two antique tables set outside the restaurant, where I sit if I need to smoke with my take-out mocha – which s not really great, by the way. What is great is their bread which they make daily in the shop. I usually pick up my bread for home, from here. They also do good pastries and cakes. Their almond tart, walnut cake, strawberry cheese cake are fairly decent. And quite reasonable. A piece of walnut cake is 1.90 pound (take out) If you fancy sitting inside, it’s a lovely place, with wall-frames of photographs of some beautiful celebrities (Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley etc) and cities. Their English breakfast is quite good too and fairly priced – 6.50 quid each. Do try if you live nearby. Oh, they also take orders for custom cakes for birthdays and parties. londoncoffeeblog.com

Vast space with very little going for it. Pity it couldn’t be put to better use in this good food starved area.
