There is no doubt that the food can be a bit variable and on a couple of occasions we have found the food lacking on seasoning. However, the food is still better than the majority of chain owned pubs and the food can be very good value if you order carefully. The children’s meals and the mob to sat day menu offer particularly good value of money.

This is my local pub – just 2 minutes from East Finchley station and 10 mins away from my house. They have a very pretty beer garden – which is a great place to hang out at summer – overlooking the East Finchley high road yet, at a little distance letting you hold a good conversation amongst the main road traffic.Service is quick if you are ordering drinks from the bar. However, on weekends, the food tends to take a little time. And it’s expensive too. Roast beef main is priced at 15 and I’d say it’s average. I usually stop by for beers and chips. They have a good selection of draught beers. If you can take a place outside, do so. As the dining room is usually full with parties/events which can get bit more noisy than you’d like. londoncoffeeblog.com

I’ve been a couple times for a Sunday roast and they do this very well. Service was good and friendly both times.

Really good food. Good service. Main restaurant can be noisy. Has some seats outside

Hotmix6. Overpriced and average.Food not value for money at all, they have the write idea but not executed well. Starters over priced, beers beer but still you are paying more than most pubs in the area by far. I was very disappointed as I had impressed but things seem to have got worse in terms of quality. The Bald Faced Stag need to look at the food, if they are to remain on of the better gastro pubs in the area. I would stop for a pint, but now would highly recommend that people dont eat there.

Nice pub but the food is a bit overpriced and can be variable

Good but waning. I have been to this nice gastro pub about 10 times and enjoyed it a lot but from the last few visits i fear its beginning to fail a little . Nice jazz evenings and a good menu make it a worthwhile choice but its beginning to run out of ideas and the food quality has been better in the past .A better choice is the Clissold Arms up the road these days
