This pub is tucked away, just off of Rathbone Place, but a real find and a half. Or perhaps just a half. I say this because the pub is tiny. But it is incredibly charming. A small bar area downstairs, with a cosy, large lounge when you head up the stairs. There is a second bar up there too, though I can’t ever remember seeing it open. Perhaps when it gets really busy? Quite a nice place to take a date, providing as you don’t go on a Friday afternoon or a summer’s evening. It can get very busy. Screw Flanders.
The Bricklayers Arms is hands down my favourite pub in central London. Like the Fitzroy, which I have also reviewed, it is a Samuel Smith pub and enjoys the same unique variety of deliciously brewed wheat beers, ales and ciders at extremely affordable prices. The atmosphere is what makes The Bricklayers Arms for me, as its upstairs is filled with comfy armchairs and real, frequently used fireplace next to which you can warm your feet. The tables are clear glass and filled with different books and tools of the bricklaying trade and there’s a dartboard downstairs if you fancy a little bit of beer related exercise. A beautifully relaxing and charming pub.
