I’m still a little baffled by The George, almost twenty-four hours after my lunch there. A very typical London pub (ugly outside and in; cramped rooms taller than they are wide; over-priced alcohol and a disappointing range of ciders), The George shouldn’t have anything going for it at all. Their lunch deal, though, might be a hint at an anomaly in their food. Choose a sandwich or wrap, and a side. The ham hock and Gruyere panini was wolfed down after a quick dollop of the provided wholegrain mustard had been added to the top. A small complaint regarding the quality of the ciabatta provided, which had a tendency towards the overly tough side of things. The BBQ pulled pork wrap was disastrously designed, the flat bread weaved around it inexplicably so as to make the meal impossible to eat as a normal wrap. It was, however delicious, and absolutely piled with perfectly formed pork. Not perfect, but not bad. swilliamthomas.tumblr.com
