About 2 years ago, I grew up and bought a house, moving to depths of South London I didn’t know existed. It was unsettling, a little bit nerve racking but slowly, I found things that made the area feel like home. One of these things was Aga’s Little Deli, a cute little cafe located right in the heart of Forest Hill. Fast forward two years and it’s still a favourite haunt of mine; partly because of a sense of loyalty and nostalgia but mostly because Aga, the owner of said deli, is so great at serving up quality honest food. Take for example this Ultimate Grilled Cheese sandwich which you find yourself salivating over. The ingredients are so simple; Montgomery cheddar, Comte and Emmental cheese with gherkins and leek; yet every single one is pure quality sourcing it from the likes of Neals Yard Dairy and Mons Cheesemongers. It’s this commitment to the best that makes this little deli a local a favourite and a little gem. Best thing is that you don’t have to pay through the nose for it as pricing is as honest as the product itself. Would I pay 4.50 for this sandwich again? Hell yes I would especially when the city is charging be upwards of 7 for a far inferior product. If you find yourself in Forest Hill and in need of a break, this is one of a small handful of places you should venture. It really is quite lovely. This is a great little place on the high street of Forest Hill. Extensive deli range available with tempting cakes and fresh bread to make you drool. I sit in and ate their 4 cheese toast washed down with a warming tea. Great all round place the decor is really cosy too.
