  Forest Hill is many a things but for me, it’s my special little food hub. Within a small area, there is quite the array of quality eats spanning a number of cuisines. So a few months ago when I caught wind that a sourdough pizza restaurant was about to take over an old kebab shop, you can imagine I was getting rather excited. From the moment Bona put up their sign, anticipation started building and their was a buzz in the air. For years, the local residents have had to travel to the likes of Frano Manca in East Dulwich or Mama Dough in Honor Oak Park to get their fix but no longer as we now had one to call our very own. With all this in mind, I prayed prayed prayed that the pizza here would be good – Bona did not disappoint. We ordered 2 pizzas to share between us but it could’ve feed 3 at a push for those with smaller appetites. The Ventricina salami, mozzarella and tomato pizza was really something and speaks volumes for what can happen to a simple pizza when you use quality ingredients. The salami wasn’t even the highlight for me; that honour goes to the mozzarella which was so creamy and full, I could’ve eaten a pizza with just that on it. The second order, topped with artichokes, scamorza, olives, mozzarella and pink peppercorns, proved to be even better, which is hard to admit for a meat lover. Everything about the pizza worked as you get the tangy/creamy contrast of the artichoke, olives and cheese but then a final tantalising spicy tickle from the peppercorns. It was just dreamy and already proving to be one of my top finds if 2016. So Forest Hill rejoice! We’ve got a new resident and she’s proving to be quite the stunner. Like any new girl next-door though, Bona is undoubtably going to garner a lot of attention so book ahead to avoid disappointment.
