When friends grow apart. I’ve lived in Golders Green for over 2 years and have visited Local Friends Chinese restaurant many times during that period (for both eating in and takeaway). Sadly, what used to be a great restaurant has gone downhill over the last 12 months. They used to do a great chicken satay, but the last time we had it the chicken was off. They recently refurbished the restaurant so I thought I’d give them another chance, but they fell far short of my expectations and the chicken was not fresh again. I also asked for vegetables with the dish I’d ordered and was told that it came with these, but was very disappointed to find it only contained chilli’s and the meat, and way too many chillis! When I think back over the last 2 years, there have been many times that they messed up our order; they regularly forget the sweet & sour sauce with the spring rolls, and forget to add extra items that we have paid for (which is annoying when you get home and find it missing). So I’ve decided I won’t be eating at Local Friends ever again.

Lovely local restaurant with friendly and helpful staff- the name of the restaurant is very apt. Food is good and on a par with what you would get in London more centrally but without the inflated prices. The staff were very accommodating with my mother’s diet needs- yes, she managed to eat healthily. They will even steam the veggies instead of frying them. For those not on such restrictions (me!), the food is equally lovely. A great local gem. Well worth the visit!
