A popular sandwich salad and Moroccon delicacy cafe in St Clements Cous Cous Cafe delivers delicious tangines and mint teas. Served in authentic Moroccan tableware the owner takes special care of his patrons. The Lamb cous cous was delightful.Reminiscent of the cafes in Jna el fna Marrakech, Cous Cous brings the charm of Morocco to Oxford.

Cous Cous Cafe – Oxford, England. Located on busy Oxford Street surrounded by various student accommodation this little Mediterranean style cafe could be easily missed. That would be at the peril of the diner since it is a charming and inexpensive place that is exceptionally friendly. The interior puts the dining area and the ordering area into two different rooms. Going here, I only was in the ordering area (though I glimpsed into the dining area – it looked laid back). The dining area was fairly well organised and clean with the items for ordering on show. There was not the usual cramp associated with the vibes of similar eateries. Service here was efficient with a friendly man behind the counter. In paying, he was very efficient and had covered additional orders made with the already-done payments. He also had the character who exuded welcomes for future returns. Going here with my brother-in-law to get lunch for a group, there was a picnic hamper that was good value we got (as well as a dessert platter). The picnic hamper contained a number of finger foods. In the picnic hamper, there was domaldies, falafel patties, green olives, a cous-cous salad, hommous and plenty of pita bread. The dessert platter had various types of honey rolls, baklava and bird’s nests. In the picnic pack, the stand out items were domaldies, olives and hummous. All of them were fresh (as they can honestly be) and tasty of good quality. The falafel patties were a bit stale, the man covered them with garlic sauce – a fair bit – which soaked them by the time they were being eaten. I did not particularly go for the pita bread – what it did is something I can not quite explain but the texture seemed a bit rough for me. The salad was fresh and well-prepared with a variety of fresh vegetables to make it vibrant and not boring. The cous-cous part was fluffy and well-cooked with the individual grains separable from each other. The items in the sweet packs were various lots of pastry, honey and almond-meal. Surprisingly, they were simultaneously generous on the honey yet none of the items felt inundated by the honey. They were easy to pick up being not too sticky. All of them were crispy and moreish. Cous Cous Cafe was a good first find in Oxford. The food was a surprise and really tasty. With a selection of delicious sounding items and an open and warm vibe (especially from the weather outside) I would be happy in returning here.

Nice and friendly. Great little cafe. sandwiches and others on the menu are fresh and tasty. i was a little surprised that soya coffee wasn’t on offer, considering the good vege options available there, but i still very much like this casual little place.

Cous Cous Cafe, Oxford. Absolutely wonderful! I Visit Oxford several times a year and even though there are plenty of good restaurants in the city, I always feel I have missed out if I dont get into CousCous Cafe at least once….they are amazing for any meal of the day. Last time i was there (last weekend) I had pain au raisin and coffee late morning…followed by a bowl of their homemade vegetable soup with warmed pitta bread. I ate soup before I went on my long train journey home with a heavy bag to carry…..eating there really sets you up for travelling or a hard day. the place is spotless and the staff are delightful…nothing is too much trouble for them. They will parcel everything up as a takeaway if, like me, you want to visit your student offspring and spread a cloth on the carpet and have an indoor picnic before settling to watch a dvd. I always look forward to going to this eaterie as part of my Oxford experience. Give it a go! Im sure you wont be disappointed. I love Andalucia and have yet to go to Morrocco…this cafe has that sort of atmosphere, plays the Andalucian/Morrocan type of music and also sells beautiful ceramics…incidentally all your food is served in typical north African pottery….whichever way you look at it, a visit there is a joy to awaken the senses!
