The food at urban Karachi is consistently good – the lamb chops are amazing and would also recommend the chilli chicken dry. Shame about the service, it is decidedly hit and miss. Can wait a long time for drinks and the bill.
Really good, modern Indian restaurant. Perhaps a little more expensive than some others in Hanwell, but well worth it. The starters are especially good, would highly recommend the chatpata wings!
Late arrivals !!!. The food in Urban Karahi in Hanwell is excellent, particularly the wings starter ( all types). The main courses are tasty and just the right amount. The service was quick and efficient and the food arrived in quick time. One minor complaint, dont get in their too late !!We booked a table for 9.45 and one of our party of 4 was there on time. The rest of us arrived at 10. For that 15 minutes our colleague was asked quite a few times where the rest of the party were. He said that we were on our way. When we arrived we were asked to order quickly as the chef was closing the kitchen as he lived a good bit away and wanted to go home !! I would still recommend it. Not the cheapest but good quality food and service.
Signature dish special. There are some good deals to be had at Urban Karahi and we were pleasantly surprised by the high level of service and excellent food on our very first visit. The decor is modern & vibrant and I think suits the mood and location of the place. We opted for two of the chefs signature starters (chicken wings and Paneer chunks) and were not disappointed as they were absolutely delicious, we wanted more but the main course awaited. Again, the dishes we selected were really tasty. Definitely worth a visit.
Celeb Spotting. We went back to Urban Karahi at the weekend, please bear in mind that you should book as we had to get a takeaway instead as I had a craving for their food. Last time i went there, they had a private function with Amanda Redman & Nina Wadia from Eastenders. Phil Jackson was there too with Steve Pound the MP & Shivani Mair a TV presenter & there were a few other celebs. I asked the owner about hiring the restaurant for my 21st & he is going to do a set menu for us, approx 30 people. When it is someones birthday, the waiters make a special effort to make the birthday person a VIP & that is why i have chosen this place for my 21st plus the food is great with the chefs making it infront of you. Request the round table by the water feature as it good for photos. Try the sweet lassi & the crispy fried prawns.07 May, 2009Contemporary dining with 1st class service. My friends & I went to Urban Karahi for a girlie night on friday & we had a great time. The staff are so helpfull & if you dont like food to hot then they can accomodate your needs by making dishes mild. I strongly recomend the urban meat & veg platter (Urban signature starters). My favourite was the homemade coconut & mango ice cream.
NICE!. Urban Karahi is a fairly high quality indian restaurant with an emphasis on spicy tandoori grilled meat. The food is all tasty, but be warned, nearly EVERYTHING has chilli in it – even the pilau rice has a kick. The nice thing about this place is that on Thurs, Fri & Sat nights, it’s usually fairly lively, and the kitchen is open plan, so you can see how clean the kitchen is, and watch the chefs do their stuff. I hope it doesn’t lose the quality over time (is it my imagination, or do good new places always go downhill when the chef gets heahunted by another restaurant?)
