There’s something slightly yummy mummy about this gastropub but there’s also something quite hipsterrific in the beer garden. Roasts are good (with ginormous yorkshire puddings) but admittedly the food’s not as great as it used to be. I’d still go for a tipple or two, but I do hope they get their food game on because other local places have caught up big time. thegirlnextshore.com
Good with 4/5 star. We have spent many happy hours in the Florence. Ideal for families and big group gatherings and the rear beer garden is a perfect suntrap for sunny weekend afternoons. The addition of a ‘playroom’ in the beer garden is an unusual addition but popular with the children. The micro brewery provides a wide selection of interesting beers and the food menu is varied – with very generous portions for Sunday lunch. Booking for groups at the weekend are essential. http://nhauthaicuu.biz
Great area, what a shame about The Florence. I’ve lived locally for years, and hadn’t been to The Florence for a few of them.. On my returned today i realised why. Very rude waitress, generally not a very nice vibe in the whole place – Now i remember why i don’t frequent this place. Left and went around the corner to The Commercial instead – lovely lunch, nice, chilled surroundings, good vibe and lovely staff – Ahhh yes, that’s more like it!
What a real shame. Really disappointing service by the table staff, who let down the bar and kitchen staff. Assistant Manager needs changing as she treated the table staff like friends rather than work colleagues. Automatically charged service, which suggested the table staff have no incentive to care. Until someone takes stock of things regarding table service it’s sad to say as the food and bar staff were great, avoid!!
Too many pubs so little time!. Another updated pub turned into a gastro type outfit.Very large seating area and decent food served – I didnt see the kitchen but it must be pretty big to serve all those tables! We went for Sunday roast recently which is not always the best reflection or test of a kitchen but the food we ordered was above average and the portions probably too big if anything. The bar area is well laid out in an island format serving some decent and interesting beers too. Will have to go back on a different day to test the midweek menu but worth going to justy for a drink.
