I came here first thing in the morning when I had just moved into the area. It was a beautiful January morning and my new flat was cold, the cupboards bare. The view from the caf into the stunning lido full of steaming swimmers was an added benefit to the delicious food and helpful staff. I ate a wonderful vegetarian breakfast and drank a passable flat white in peace and quiet. The food not outrageously expensive but instead nestles in the heart of what has become London’s ‘affordable’ price range.
Lovely cafe, nice and bright and a cool spot. Had the halloumi and beetroot burger, delicious! Service was fine. We were there when a TV show was also being filmed so perhaps not the usual experience! Had a brownie to take away that was more cake like but still delicious. Oh and free parking which was great!
Great spot for brekkie on a nice morning – chaotic service. Pleasant spot for alfresco dining next to the pool at Brockwell Park. Coffees and flat whites well prepared but service very slow. Food served at least 10 minutes before drinks emerged. Symptomatic of what appeared rather chaotic front of house. Get service organized and the Lido Cafe could be so much better!
Swim first. 10 lengths minimum. Then mushrooms on toast. Very good.
No place for a quiet Sunday. I was very tempted to visit after having seen the website and having had a sub-standard breakfast at the Dulwich Picture Gallery cafe. First impressions were good (10/10)as I gazed up at the pleasing 1930s exterior but as I passed through the scruffy hallway past the lavatories into the cafe with its stripped floor my rating dropped to 7/10. I decided that I ought to sit alongside the pool but was rather taken aback to find most of the tables reserved, at 10.20 on a Sunday morning (6/10). The waitress directed me to a bench which I declined as it was next to a wretched speaker spouting dub-reggae, she took this a personal slight and remained surly even when I reluctantly had to sit at the bench that she had originally designated (5/10). My order of scrambled egg on brown toast & espresso took some while to arrive but it looked good; back up 6/10. The egg was excellent and the toast, albeit white, was really nice crunchy ciabatta-like bread whilst the coffee was excellent, back up to 8/10. Get rid of the music and this would be a a lovely cafe in which to spend a quiet Sunday morning; until that time it’s back to Dulwich Picture Gallery cafe for its tranquility
