The place has the most gorgeous looking deserts you’d find. They also have a mini outlet stall at Selfridges on Oxford Street, taste is a little above average, there’s a lot better you can find. Keep looking!
For those with a sweet tooth, I recommend Belle Epoque. The eye-catching, colourful and mouth-watering display instantly drew my attention as I was walking by. I wasn’t the only one as it caught the attention of many onlookerslooking over my shoulder as I sat outside, dabbing into the delicious baked goods. My favourite was the ‘Chocoframboise’ with the ‘Frasier’ coming in close second. The sugar overload prevented me from trying everything in the patisserie (that and money). Suffice to say, I would definitely return.
Came across this patisserie while walking to ottolenghi and I knew that I had to try their cakes. My favourite one is the Belle poque entremet which was a chocolate mousse with creme brle insert. So creamy contrasting with crunchy chocolate pearls and not too chocolatey! The eclair was also very tasty but the peach tart had too much raspberry jam on it. Definitely go back there soon!!!
This cute little patisserie has just opened on Upper Street and caught my eye with its incredible window display of brightly coloured confections. I popped in on my birthday and was surprised to find a sleek modern cafe inside. Some of the cakes have a futuristic, spacey appearance to match the modern interior, a planet shaped cake with gold glitter spray particularly catching my eye. Other look as if Marie Antoinette would have eaten them, topped with cream swirls and rose petals. La Belle Epoque also sell fresh bread and sandwiches and a selection of boutique teas and sweets, displayed all the way to the ceiling. The only thing I was a little disappointed by was the unfortunate seating areas. There were a couple of tables outside but these wouldn’t be ideal in winter and the inside seating consisted of a few stools along a little bar table at the back in a darkened corner. I don’t think I’d like to eat in and decided to take my cake to go. I ended up choosing a little bunny cake with had a chocolate brownie centre with a chocolate ganache outer layer and popping candy, delicious!!!
