So we fully immersed ourselves with the banquet of de la mer. We had the dish with lobster, mussels, prawns clams, calamari. Fresh tomato based sauce on linguine pasta with a side of chips.To be fair we came in a Sunday and the chef who’s signature dish we ate wasn’t in to cook it. It was still well done. The chips was unbelievable. I would actually say, perfect chips. We are definitely going back.
My personal go-to place for takeaway chips. The chips are never too greasy and theyre never left in the fryer for too long so they are never too dry. Also, being 2.50 a portion makes them just right. The staff are also really warm and chatty, and never judge you for how much vinegar you put on your chips.The biggest complaint for me is the price of the drinks- 1 for a can of coke, really?
Good fish, bad chips.. There’s a restaurant behind designed in that Scandinavian style of light, airy space with timber, white walls and some exposed brick. I can’t comment on the sit down menu as I got myself a takeaway from the fish & chips counter at the front of the shop. A regular cod & chips for just under 5 is not bad. The fish was fresh & moist, the batter golden & crispy – an encouraging sign that some care was taken in frying the fish. But the chips were pale & bland. I like my chips crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, so I don’t rate the ones here.
