I have been trying to locate a decent fish and chip meal since moving to London. Well at last here it is. The Beach Hut is in a pleasant location in Highbury with buckets of charm and the freshest fish ever. The quality is superb and the price tag is incredibly reasonable. We had oysters to start with lashings of lemon and tabasco, delish. I then opted for a huge plaice with chips and a side salad which was full of fresh herbs and a real unexpected treat.The chips were really tasty and chunky and the fish was just perfect with the finest of batters. I felt like I was by the ocean. The staff are super friendly with loads of good advice for newbies. Will be a regular, cant wait to visit again had the best Friday fish in years.

Great food, poor customer service. Great Fish & Chips, chunky chips and fresh fish – the way to go! When this little wonder opened the owners were welcoming and polite, however they have now become unapproachable. I’ve actually been put off buying from here as the last time I visited I was told Oh can’t you go and come back later! Shame as really like their traditional F & C!
Scrumptious. This is now a regular of mine, lovely staff (especially Henry) lovely fresh fish , light melt in the mouth batter & perfect crispy chips with a fluffy centre Mmmm oh and hey it’s bring your own , how nice is that pop in the offy two doors down and bring your own booze they don’t charge corkage(why not?) a very good night out and such a nice atmosphere of background music,jazz,madness …….etc
Fantastic stuff despite some caveats. Okay – this place obviously rules – but they need to get some proper extraction in there. If it’s in autumn/winter/spring and you’re eating in, generally the door is shut and every piece of clothing you wear ends up stinking. Other than that, lovely people, great good, reasonably priced.

Really good. Excellent fish, they do not over cook it. Chips taste more home made,or home cut than usual. Extreamily welcome fish and chip shop.can take you own wine if eating in. average price.Very child friendly.
