There is a wide range of choice of food in this restaurant. The servers are nice and friendly, providing useful information throughout the dinner.Despite this, the food is pretty bad. The meats are poorly cooked and dry. For the main courses, most of them are overcooked and the sauce is terrible. I tried the chicken in lemon sauce on Monday, the sauce is bitter and salty, the seasoning is pretty weird.
The food is kept warm and nice but the quality is still room for improvement. The chicken with lemon sauce is the worst of the meal. the lemon sauce has strange flavor and smell with salted lemon. The fries are not crispy at all. The SHIU MAI is a must eat and the only proper dish.
I love going there and when I was little I always insisted we go there to my parents.
Everyone is acquainted to one or two Chinese buffet available across the vast restaurant fields of London, but nestled in the quiet part of west London is Tai pan, an authentic Chinese restaurant with a vast variety of eastern and oriental dishes and an open pan option where your food is prepared right before your eyes, the glamour, beautiful array of colours and an atmosphere to boot makes Tai Pan a must go for flavour hunters. Recommended is the Steak in Black Bean sauce, a taste sensation that would definitely leave you wanting more. The restaurant also provides a decent selection of beverages and spirits and also a desert menu that would leave you wanting nothing more.
I was taken to Tai Pan by my friend for lunch. We had buffet. The choice of dishes was quite wide, and constantly being kept warm and full. The restaurant was quite full, so they kept delivering freshly cooked food almost all the time. They have clearly marked vegetarian (non-meat) dishes. The dishes vary from noddles, meat, rice to snacks.I liked the food, especially mien noodles, which had a real taste of Shanghaise cooking, but to be honest the food was not really Chinese. Lots of dishes were Western idea of Chinese, or Chinese adapted to Western tastes, so that the customers would keep coming and not be scared of too alien food. It could also be caused by limited availability of Chinese spices and vegetables in Uxbridge, I can’t really tell. While the food was fine, and quite tasty, if you’re looking for real Chinese treat and Chinese/Asian tastes, Tai Pan is not your destination. Maybe a la carte is different.
Good Chinese with a wide range of tasty food. highly recommended when in Uxbridge.
